17 year old Fomula 4 driver Parth Ghorpade ended up with two solid 8th place finishes in round 3 of the French F4 Championships held at the Pau Grand Prix on 21st/22 nd May. Supported by Amaron and Karvy, the Kolhapur speedster, took part in the historic street race that is being held for the 70th time, where the FIA Formula 3 International Trophy is the main event. The circuit is a mini Monaco, run through narrow streets with steep inclines, with no real overtaking opportunities and placing a premium on concentration and technique.
Competing for the 3rd time in a European motorsport championship, Parth has shown a lot of promise in the ongoing season, and even set the 5th fastest race lap in the third round of the championship, only 2/10th off the best. Although many drivers have done extensive work on simulators, no one had actually raced here, and this made it a level playing field once the action started.
Being amongst the few drivers who somehow managed to maintain an impressive race pace without an incident throughout the whole weekend, Parth was aggressive and hard and the challenge of driving under these tough conditions was indeed an unique experience for him. Given the progress shown over the last 3 rds, it is expected he will be fighting for a larger share of the points from hereon.
