The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, a car that has captured the imagination of millions of people worldwide will soon be seen in its last ever avatar. Mitsubishi has announced that the Evo will soon be phased out. To celebrate a legacy that spans almost 25 years, Mitsubishi has unveiled the Evo X Final Concept.
The Mitsubishi Evo X Final Concept will feature matte black paint on the body along with a gloss black roof and new chrome details. The large typically Evo spoiler will also be finished in gloss black paint. The car will also feature a new set of black 19-inch RAYS forged aluminium wheels with a chrome lip and decals on the side.
The most significant improvement is under the hood where the 2.0-litre engine has been seriously upgraded. The engine has been fitted with a new turbocharger by HKS, a special new intake and exhaust systems along with a new ECU. Thanks to this, the engine now produces 480PS which is sent to all four wheels through a 5-speed gearbox.
The Mitsubishi Evo has been a great car for enthusiasts and one of the most successful rally cars ever made. Not only has the Evo won multiple WRC titles with legendary drivers such as Tommi Makinen, the Evo has also been the most successful car on the Asia Pacific Rally Championship and on the Indian rally scene. The end of production for this automotive icon will also mean the end of the long standing Mitsuboshi Evo vs Subaru Impreza rivalry.
