Legendary British SUV maker Land Rover has continually been at the forefront of developing world-class SUV’s with extraordinary off-roading capabilities. However, a glimpse of the Range Rover Evoque at its World Debut at the Paris Motor Show last year was a revelation of Land Rover’s growing interest in developing and designing SUV’s that can not only bite some serious dust, but also look good enough to be bracketed as ‘Stylish Softroaders’.
The soon to begin Geneva Motor Show will bring production ready cars by world-class automakers before the public eye for the very first time, and for Land Rover the stage is set for the unveiling of an array of new models at grand international automobile show.
We saw the three door design of the Evoque in Paris, and those who loved it are surely in for a treat as the 5-Door version of the stunning new Range Rover Evoque makes its world debut at Geneva. What makes the Evoque’s presence ever more exciting is that Land Rover will offer buyers a host of customization options for personalizing their cars. The choices range from designer exterior packs, contrasting colours on the roof and spoiler, and desirable technologies all coming together to maximize comfort and passenger ambience.
The Range Rover Ultimate Edition offers rear cabin Apple iPads as standard
Next in line is the Range Rover Autobiography Ultimate Edition, which is a new limited edition Range Rover model series offering the zenith in luxury and in car gadgetry. The Range Rover Ultimate Edition offers an assortment of super-premium features including hand crafted soft feel leathers; a yacht inspired teak floor and rear cabin iPads* as standard.
The 2011 Discovery 4 ‘Landmark’ in its elusive black and white theme is also one to keep an eye out for. This one of a kind variant of the Discovery Series brings a fresh, and more contemporary sense of design and elegance to the Land Rover range of cars. The Discovery 4 'Landmark' is now on-sale in the UK priced from £ 46,945 on the road.
But, the car which is bound to catch the maximum attention at the Land Rover stalls in Geneva is the all new electric plug in development vehicle by Land Rover. Going by the Electric ‘Range e’ name, is the perfect showcasing of Land Rovers diesel hybrid plug-in technology, and is capable of running on emissions as low as 89 g/km CO2.
The 'Range e' is the first capable 4WD model from Land Rover to achieve 89g of CO2
The 'Range e' is based on a Range Rover Sport and features a 3.0-litre TDV6 diesel with an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. Matched with a plug-in parallel diesel hybrid system it offers a premium SUV that can run as a pure electric vehicle. The 'Range e' is the first capable 4WD model from Land Rover to achieve 89g of CO2. It has an EV range of 20 miles, a top speed of around 120mph and a range of 690 miles.
With the coming of the ‘Range e’ Land Rover is set for its entry into the ‘plug in Hybrid’ space, and will most likely give competition to the American Chevrolet Volt and the converted ‘plug in hybrid’ versions of the Toyota Prius.
