New 390 Duke and 200 Duke will get significant visual updates though additional features in the former promise to notch up the desirability quotient

It’s official. The much-awaited 390 Duke and 200 Duke is set to launch in India on February 23. The 2017 390 Duke has been one of the most anticipated bikes this year due to its performance, aggressive styling and additional features. The bike now looks very similar to the KTM Super Duke R. It features a split all-LED headlamp. It gets a revised frame that increases ground clearance to 185mm, reduces wheelbase to 1357mm and bumps up seat height by 30mm. All of these changes should translate in sportier dynamics. The tank is a larger 13.4-litre unit now and should help in improving the range. The body panels have been completely revised on the bike and the 390 Duke looks larger than its predecessor. Cycle parts remain similar to the 2016 version though the new 390 Duke gets a larger 320mm front disc brake. All revisions add up to 10 kilos on the new bike. Dry weight is now 149 kilos. [Update 23/02/217: The 2017 KTM Duke range has been launched in India. The 2017 KTM 390 Duke has been priced at Rs 2.25 lakh, the 250 Duke at Rs 1.73 lakh and the 200 Duke at Rs 1.43 lakh (all prices ex-showroom Delhi). An important addition is the new colour TFT display that gets a menu navigation switch integrated into the left side handlebar controls. It also can be synced to your smartphone via the KTM MY RIDE app.

The 373.2cc engine makes similar 44PS but torque is up by 1Nm at 36Nm. The bike gets ride-by-wire for a sharper throttle response while a slipper clutch should take care of aggressive downshifts. Euro-IV compliance adds the new conventional exhaust into the mix.

There isn't much information available about the KTM 200 Duke other than a few images released by KTM. From the images, it looks like the 200 Duke is styled similar to the 390 Duke but gets black wheels and black front frame as before. The headlamp is a new design and gets DRLs though it misses out on LED headlamps. It also misses out on the colour LCD screen. Rest of the bike should remain similar to the outgoing model though we expect the engine to be similar to the new RC 200's BS-IV unit.
