Ferrari has severed ties with the Shreyans Group, official distributor and importer of Ferrari cars in India according to a statement made to our sister publication, Economic times.
"Automobili Italia Private Ltd (set up by Shreyans Group specially for Ferrari) is no longer the official Ferrari importer in India," the statement said. "Ferrari is contacting all clients to ensure assistance with all matters relating to the ownership experience in the absence of an official representative in India until such time as a new importer is appointed."
Ferrari entered the Indian market in 2011 with the Ashish Chordia led Shreyans Group as its sole distributor. But just three years into the tie-up, complaints from high-profile customers has led to Ferrari terminating this contract. Gautam Singhania, Chairman and MD of the Raymond Group and owner of the Ferrari 458 challenge is among those irked with the Shreyans Group and even lashed out on twitter, claiming to have received negligent after sales service from Shreyans. While Singhania hasn’t purchased a Ferrari via Chordia, he claims to have received poor after sales service. “It’s completely shameful how Ashish Chordia is taking Ferrari customers for a ride. Outright cheating. And Ferrari sitting quiet…” he tweeted.
In fact, the Shreyans Group has gained a bad reputation with other European manufacturers as well. Ducati for instance also decided to part ways with Shreyans towards the end of 2013 and announced its move to re-enter India independently under Audi’s fold. Another group company, Porsche too now is on its own and is thriving with eight showrooms across India.
