The third-gen Renault Duster in India-bound and is expected to be launched on our shores sometime in 2025

Dacia has taken the wraps off the third-gen (2024) Duster for global markets. And this is an important car for us Indians as it will be rebadged as a Renault and will mark the return of the popular ‘Duster’ nameplate on our shores. It’s still a while away, though, as we expect it to be launched here only in 2025. Meanwhile, here’s an in-depth look at the new-gen Duster:

The front now features a sleeker grille that merges onto both the LED headlights, which get a Y-shaped DRL signature. You also get design elements on the grille that seem to be an extension of the headlights. And below it is the macho bumper that gives the front a nice rugged vibe.

In profile, the overall silhouette design is still very ‘Duster’. But you do get new design elements in the form of chunkier wheel arches with cladding, new alloys, and a sharper and raked windowline that looks sporty.

Shifting focus to the rear, the Duster now gets new LED tail lamps with a Y-shaped signature, a la the DRLs. A chunky rear bumper rounds off the overall design.

Inside, the 2024 Renault Duster gets a brand new dashboard design with a 10.1-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system. Thankfully, physical controls have been retained for the climate control. Another interesting design detail is the Lamborghini Urus-like AC vents and the “Duster” embossing on the dashboard.

In the lower central console, you now get a small gear lever. Also, parking brake duties are now taken electronically, opening up storage spaces for your coffee or knick-knacks.

The Renault Duster has a 472-litre trunk, one of the bigger ones in its segment. It gets a nice square shape, that’s more than capable enough to gobble your weekend’s worth of luggage.

In terms of features, you get a fully digital instrument cluster, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected car tech, automatic climate control, a wireless phone charger, and heated front seats (likely to be ventilated in India). As for passenger safety, you get multiple airbags, electronic stability control, ABS with EBD, parking sensors and most importantly, ADAS.

Underneath the hood, the Duster gets multiple petrol engine options including turbo-petrol and strong-hybrid. There’s also the option to pick from an all-wheel drivetrain for those looking to explore the uncharted terrains. Detailed specifications of the new 2024 Renault Duster can be found here in our unveiling story

Renault is expected to launch the third-gen Duster on our shores sometime in 2025. We suspect prices to start from around Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom), putting it in contention with compact SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and Honda Elevate
