With the massive success of the new Duster, Renault has now revealed its future India roadmap in detail, and some big reveals could see the carmaker expanding its product portfolio by 4 new models by the end of this decade, along with a renewed focus on the export side as well. If you are curious, here are all the major takeaways:
Besides the new Duster’s R-GMP platform that we have covered in detail here, Renault has now revealed that it is working on a new R-GEP (Renault Group Entry Platform) architecture, which is a heavily reworked version of its current CMF-A platform (which is the basis of the Kwid, Kiger and Triber currently). This will underpin its next generation of entry-level products, which will be priced below Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom).

On the other hand, the R-GMP will continue to be the base for Renault’s premium products in India, like the new Duster, the upcoming Bridger and Duster-based 7-seater SUV that is expected to be launched next year.
In keeping with this new R-GEP platform, the carmaker will be giving the Triber and Kiger a major update in the coming months, which will feature:
Underbody factory-fitted dual-cylinder CNG setups
Bigger screens in the segment
A new turbo-petrol powertrain for the Triber

Notably, the Kwid’s(which is also based on the CMF-A platform) future is uncertain as it does not figure in the R-GEP plans and there is a possibility for Renault to vacate the A-segment altogether.
Moving on to the next all-new product from the brand, which will be a sub-4-metre SUV called the Bridger. The carmaker had revealed a lot of details about the SUV back when it showcased its concept earlier this year. But now we have confirmation that the SUV will go into production in the second half of 2027.

Alongside this key detail, we now also know that Renault is working on an electrified version of the Bridger, which will make its debut a few months after the launch of the ICE-powered version.

One of the powertrain options in the Bridger will also be a new 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, further details of which are currently under wraps.
Renault says the R-GMP platform has been developed keeping future electrification in mind. This will form the core of its new technologies, such as strong-hybrid, BEV, plug-in hybrid and even an e-4WD system, which it is contemplating for an India launch.
Among these, we will see the first product intervention in the form of the Duster strong-hybrid, which is expected to be launched in Diwali this year, which will include a 1.8-litre turbo-petrol engine with electric assist.
By 2030, Renault claims that it will have 4 products that will be based on the R-GMP platform and 3 on the R-GEP platform for a seven-car portfolio. The R-GMP platform will include:
Duster
Duster-based 7-seater SUV (Launch Date: Early 2027)
Bridger sub-4 metre SUV(Launch Date: Late 2027)
Bridger EV (Launch Date: Early 2028)

Furthermore, the carmaker says it will also have 3 products on sale based on the R-GEP platform, which will include the updated Kiger and Triber and another new model. Another key detail is that, besides introducing new products, the carmaker will shorten the lifecycles and give consistent yearly updates to keep its portfolio relevant and fresh.
Renault has placed big bets on India, and the blockbuster success of the new Duster has only enhanced its confidence in these plans, which are the largest we have seen so far from the carmaker in its more than a decade-long time here. It is encouraging to see Renault taking this initiative, and we sure hope it leads to better times to come for both carmakers and customers!
