Renault Duster

Renault is all set to launch the new Duster in India tomorrow, marking the return of one of the country’s most iconic SUVs. First introduced in 2012, the Duster helped pioneer the midsize SUV segment in India. With its third-generation model, Renault aims to reclaim its place in a segment now dominated by models such as the Hyundai Creta and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.

The 2026 Duster brings a completely redesigned exterior, a significantly updated cabin, a long list of modern features and multiple powertrain options, including turbo-petrol engines and a strong hybrid. Ahead of its official launch, here’s a quick look at everything you need to know about the new Renault Duster.

2026 Renault Duster: Exterior

The new Renault Duster retains its rugged SUV stance but introduces several design changes tailored specifically for the Indian market. Up front, the SUV gets redesigned headlights with eyebrow-shaped LED DRLs that double up as turn indicators. The grille is unique to the India-spec model and features a large ‘Duster’ badge instead of the Renault logo. The bumper gets a protruding silver surround reminiscent of the first-generation model, along with pixel-style fog lamps on either side.

From the side, the new Duster features pronounced black cladding over the wheel arches and lower body sections, giving it a more rugged appearance. The rear door handles are mounted on the C-pillar, while functional roof rails offer a load-bearing capacity of up to 50kg. The SUV rides on up to 18-inch alloy wheels and offers a ground clearance of 212mm.

At the rear, triangular tail lamps are connected by an LED light bar, which is a design element unique to the India-spec model. The SUV also gets a roof-mounted spoiler and a black rear bumper with a silver surround. Unique touches such as Himalayan motifs on the front fenders and a yellow ‘Iconic’ strip on the body cladding further set it apart.

2026 Renault Duster: Interior

Inside, the 2026 Duster features a completely redesigned dashboard tailored for Indian buyers. The cabin gets a dual-screen setup comprising a touchscreen infotainment system and a digital driver’s display. Renault has used leatherette materials across the seats, dashboard and door panels, along with contrast green stitching to give the cabin a more premium feel. The dashboard also features silver trim inserts and soft-touch materials.

The layout strikes a balance between digital and physical controls, with dedicated buttons on the centre console for key vehicle functions. The front armrest is slide-adjustable and offers storage underneath, while the rear centre armrest gets integrated cup holders. The SUV also offers a generous 518-litre boot capacity.

2026 Renault Duster: Features And Safety

The new Duster comes equipped with several modern features that bring it in line with newer rivals in the segment. Key features include a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging and dual-zone climate control. It also gets ventilated and powered front seats, a powered tailgate and ambient lighting.

Buyers will also have the option of a more powerful 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 163PS and 280Nm. This engine will be available with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
