Maruti Brezza Facelift Scores 5-Stars in BNCAP: Is This The Safest Car In The Compact SUV Segment?

Bharat NCAP has released the crash test results of the new Maruti Suzuki Brezza. Keeping up with the latest standards, the Brezza has scored a full 5-star rating in the crash test. While the pre-facelift Brezza was not crash-tested, it is confidence-inspiring that the new Brezza has the stamp of 5-stars and is a testament to its crash worthiness.

Adult Occupant Protection

Score: 30.41 / 32 points

The Maruti Brezza, based on the Global-C platform, has scored highly in the BNCAP test for adult occupant protection. It has scored an impressive 30.41 out of 32 points overall for adult occupant protection.

Breaking it down, for the frontal offset deformable barrier test, tested at 64 kmph, the score is 14.41 out of 16 total points, and for the side movable deformable barrier test, tested at 50 kmph, it has scored a full 16 out of 16. This indicates that side protection for the front passengers is higher than the head and chest frontal collision result of the Brezza only in comparison, despite the fact that it has scored highly.

Child Occupant Protection

Score: 43 / 49 points

The Brezza has scored well in the child occupant protection as well, scoring an overall 43 out of 49 points for child occupant protection. Besides that, individually, the Brezza has scored a total of 12 out of 12 points for the child restraint system (CRS) and a full 24 out of 24 for the dynamic test as well. However, for the overall vehicle assessment score, the Brezza has scored 7 points out of 13. These tests are carried out with dummies simulating an 18-month-old child and a 3-year-old child.

This indicates that the Brezza is built sturdily for the child and passenger in terms of crash protection.

Safety Features

The new Brezza comes with a host of safety features including, 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, hill hold control (HHC), traction control (TC), vehicle stability control (VSC) and ISOFIX child seat mounts. It also comes with front and rear parking sensors and a 360-degree camera.

Price And Rivals

The new Brezza is expected to be priced at Rs 8.49 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards. 

The Brezza goes against the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet and Syros, Skoda Kylaq, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Tata Nexon, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, Maruti Fronx, and the Toyota Taisor.

Maruti Suzuki has proven their safety record in recent times, with the Brezza being the fourth car to achieve 5-stars in the crash tests.
