The Tata Harrier EV was recently revealed in its production-ready version ahead of its expected launch in the coming months. Currently, the Harrier is available in a diesel-powered version, which is also a very well-equipped SUV with plenty on offer. However, the EV iteration will be getting three extra things over its ICE counterpart, which will help it stand out. From a few more features to enhanced mechanicals, the Harrier EV is not just an electric alternative but also has a few tricks up its sleeve.
Let’s take a look at the three extra things the Harrier EV gets over the Harrier ICE:
Before moving to the mechanical side of things, let’s first take a look at the extra features that the Harrier EV will be getting:
Summon Mode: A high-end feature that Tata will be offering on the Harrier EV. This feature allows you to drive the SUV forward and backwards using the key fob without actually being present in the car.
Vehicle-to-load (V2L): A feature that even the Curvv EV gets will be offered with the Harrier EV. This allows you to charge electrical devices and appliances using the car’s battery as the source.
The common expected features between the two include a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital driver display, powered and ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof and a dual-zone climate control.
Safety features will likely include up to 7 airbags, Level-2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), hill hold assist, a 360-degree camera, and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
The Harrier EV will be introduced with an all-wheel drive system, while the diesel Harrier gets a front-wheel drive setup. The all-wheel drive setup will make the EV iteration much more capable than the standard version in terms of tackling difficult road situations, including snow, mud, and rain. The enhanced traction and stability will give it a clear advantage over its ICE-form.
We also know that the Harrier EV will produce up to 500 Nm, which is significantly greater than the 350 Nm torque output produced by the 2-litre diesel engine. What’s even more interesting is that the Harrier EV’s closest rival, Mahindra XEV 9e, also does not have all-wheel drive tech yet.

The Tata Harrier EV comes with a multi-link rear suspension, while the standard Harrier gets a torsion beam setup. The multi-link suspension system offers greater control and smoother ride quality over uneven roads. It is also the superior setup in terms of sportiness. Other capable SUVs like the Jeep Compass, Toyota Fortuner and Mahindra Thar also use multi-link suspension.
The Harrier EV could possibly be priced from around Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom) and will lock horns with the Mahindra XEV 9e and the BYD Atto 3. The standard Harrier is priced between Rs 14.99 lakh to Rs 26.49 lakh and competes with SUVs like the Mahindra XUV700, MG Hector and Jeep Compass.
While a few extra features are okay to miss out on for most people, but enhanced mechanicals? That sounds a little difficult to ignore. So would you consider opting for the electric Harrier over the ICE-powered version? Let us know in the comments section.
