The Skoda Kylaq has been in the news for a while now ahead of its entry into one of the busiest and most popular SUV segments in India. In the Skoda lineup, the Kylaq subcompact SUV will be the entry-level SUV positioned below the Slavia sedan and Kushaq compact SUV. All three aforementioned cars will be sharing the same MQB-A0 IN platform.
In this article, we will be taking you through the list of top 10 features that the Kylaq could get from Slavia. While some of the Kylaq’s features and specifications have already been confirmed, we list down the top 10 features that will likely be common between the Slavia and the upcoming Kylaq:
Larger infotainment screens have become a trend now, even if the car belongs to a subcompact segment. With all the Kylaq’s rivals being offered with large infotainment units, we expect the Kylaq to get the same 10-inch unit that is being offered with the Slavia. It will be a touchscreen unit, likely to be offered in the higher variants only. This particular system comes with both wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with crisp graphics and all the necessary details.
The dashboard design would look a bit odd if you opt for the higher-spec variant and do not get a large digital display to complement the infotainment unit. We expect the Slavia’s 8-inch driver’s display to be offered with the Kylaq. Competitors like the Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV 3XO and Kia Sonet are offering 10.25-inch displays, so the probability of the Kylaq getting this feature is high.
Automatic climate control is a common feature in the Kylaq’s segment, and we are confident that this feature will be available from the mid to higher-spec variants of the Kylaq. Lower-spec trims will come with a manual AC. The Kylaq will also likely get rear AC vents to keep the rear passengers cool.
A feature that is loved and adored by us Indians! A single-pane sunroof is definitely something that we can expect the Kylaq to get considering the fact that almost all of its rivals are offering this feature. The Mahindra XUV 3XO and Tata Nexon even gets a panoramic sunroof, but we expect the Kylaq to get a single-pane one since the larger Kushaq also misses out on the panoramic unit.
Another feature that it will likely borrow from the Slavia will be the wireless phone charger. This feature eliminates the dependency on wires and makes for a seamless charging experience. However, you can also expect a few charging ports so that multiple devices can be charged at the same time.
The Kylaq sub-4m SUV should get the keyless entry with push-button start feature from the Slavia. This feature increases the convenience factor and is something that is offered with almost all modern day cars.
A feature that has been confirmed and will be available with the higher-spec variants of the Kylaq. Ventilated front seat functionality is a premium amenity which is suited to the hot summers of our country.
Along with ventilated front seats, Skoda also confirmed that the Kylaq will get 6-way adjustable power seats for the driver. Just a few years back this feature was considered as a luxury, but it's getting more and more common even on mass market vehicles.
All car manufacturers are nowadays making 6 airbags as standard across all variants and Skoda too will be launching the Kylaq with 6 airbags right from the base variant itself. Initially, the Slavia was not offered with 6 airbags as standard, but the update was made later to adhere with the safety guidelines. Other standard safety equipment should include ABS with EBD, ESC and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
While some of the Kylaq’s rivals come with a 360-degree camera, we expect the Skoda SUV to come with a reverse parking camera only. The Slavia too misses out on a 360-degree camera which is why we are not expecting the entry-level Kylaq to get that feature. As per the safety norms, rear parking sensors will be provided as well and we hope the Kylaq gets a better camera than that found on the Slavia.
The Kylaq is expected to be priced from Rs 8.5 lakh (ex-showroom) and will be launched in the first half of 2025. It will compete with subcompact SUVs like the Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Kia Sonet and Hyundai Venue.
