The supersport is likely to be launched in India next year

The Aprilia RS 440 has been spied abroad in a production-ready avatar. Lately, a bunch of premium motorcycle brands including Triumph and Harley-Davidson have taken the sub-500cc segment by storm, and joining that list is Aprilia with the RS 440.

Aprilia’s entry-level supersport was spotted in India earlier, and except a few colour differences on some components like the swingarm and engine casing, the bike spotted abroad looks exactly the same.

The RS 440 is likely to be powered by a 400-440cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder high-revving engine. It should come packed with enough performance to take the fight to the KTM RC 390 and Kawasaki Ninja 400. Along with that, expect the RS 440 to come equipped with all the fancy electronics including ride-by-wire, traction control, cornering ABS and quickshifter.

In terms of hardware, the bike looks pretty premium, just what you would expect from an Aprilia – chunky USD fork and monoshock with aluminium swingarm. Lightweight alloy rims, sleek brake rotors and a radial front brake caliper complete the hardware. Head here to know more about the bike.

It gets the same full-fairing that looks pretty aggressive and sharp. The sleek twin LED headlight with integrated LED indicators looks pretty clean. All in all, the supersport looks pretty buff, and a lot like a scaled down Aprilia RS 660.

Alongside the RS440, a test mule of the upcoming Moto Guzzi V100 Stelvio was spotted as well, albeit under heavy camouflage. The adventure motorcycle will most likely be powered by the same 1042cc liquid-cooled engine, making 115PS and 105Nm, found on the V100 Mandello, a funky-looking sports tourer. However, it is unlikely to come to India.

The Aprilia RS 440 could be launched in the Indian market by April 2024 with an expected price tag of Rs 4 lakh, ex-showroom. Yes, it may not be nearly as affordable as the recently launched Triumph Speed 400, but it will be more of a niche supersport, ideal for those who are looking for a premium Italian track-taming experience.
