Ola acknowledges no fault on its part and instead blames a targeted spear campaign spurred by jealousy against its rapid success

Ola Electric has released an official statement addressing the spate of front fork failures that the Ola S1 Pro e-scooter has been facing recently. Here’s what it has to say:

Ola released the statistics of the fork failure and the causes behind it as well, expressing that most of the cases were accidents. The EV maker also released the stress test data of its older front fork and the newer one, comparing it alongside a conventional telescopic unit:

Taking the multiple fork failures into consideration, Ola is also offering a free fork replacement with an upgraded unit for existing S1 electric scooter owners.

Ola is handling the viral news of this front fork failure on the offensive and has declared that there are multiple smear campaigns against the company, spurred by its rapid success. The EV maker has made no apologies for the experience that its customers have faced and has only attempted to clear its name of the said issue with a blog, stating that they are being unfairly targeted.

It’s indeed a good thing that Ola has improved the engineering of its front fork and is offering customers a free replacement. The company has also addressed that of the 218 reported failures, 184 were accident related, but 34 were inconclusive. Ideally, Ola should have also acknowledged these inconclusive failures at the right time. The fact that it has taken this long to address the issue, almost one year after Ola themselves said the first case was reported in May 2022, is something that doesn’t do well for building trust in the brand. The S1 Pro has not been issue-free since it was launched back in 2021 and the company has been slowly addressing various performance and feature-related bugs through various software patches. While this is definitely a good thing, we believe fork failures are catastrophic in nature, and should not have been taken as lightly as addressing software bugs. We believe that even a single non-accident-related fork failure is one failure too many.

Apart from this, Ola has started the sale of its official accessories for the S1 electric scooter, including the centre stand and side step, along with the brand’s apparel, on its website. Check them out here.
