The upcoming motorcycle will share the same platform as the Tiger Sport 660 and Trident 660

It looks like an iconic bike is making a comeback as Triumph has teased a new motorcycle and has revealed that it will be globally unveiled on January 9, 2024. Judging by the images shown in the teaser, we think it’ll be an all-new Triumph Daytona 660

Why Daytona? Because the silhouette of the motorcycle in the teaser is of a supersport bike. And why 660? Because one of the images shows the number ‘660’ on the lower part of the motorcycle’s fairing. As such, it’ll share the same platform as the Tiger Sport 660 and the Trident 660 and will be powered by the same 660cc, in-line 3-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. It produces 81PS and 64Nm on both the bikes. If Triumph were to really name the bike Daytona, then they might tweak the engine tuning a bit to suit its character.

The upcoming 660cc supersport was teased a few months ago and based on the riding posture seen in the pictures, it seems like the motorcycle will have slightly more comfortable ergonomics and the motorcycle will be more of a sports tourer than a hardcore track day machine like the previous-gen Daytonas. And considering it’ll get the same engine as an adventure bike and a roadster, the transition seems more likely. This will also allow the brand to garner a wider set of audiences as they offer a nice balance of everyday usability and spirited riding.

As mentioned above, the Triumph Daytona 660 will be globally unveiled on January 9 and we expect it to get a price tag of around GBP 9,500 (approx Rs 10 lakh) since the Tiger Sport 660 and the Trident 660 are priced at GBP 8,945 (approx Rs 9.46 lakh) and GBP 7,895 (approx Rs 8.38 lakh) respectively in the UK. Expect the bike to be launched in India in early 2024, possibly around the same Rs 10 lakh mark. It will go up against the Aprilia RS 660, Honda CBR650R, Kawasaki Ninja 650, and the upcoming Yamaha R7.
