The Tata Sierra is back. Tata Motors has introduced the all-new Sierra in India, ushering the legend into modern SUV times with a new design, a premium cabin, and multiple powertrains. The Sierra now sits between the Nexon and the Harrier in Tata's lineup, squarely in the compact SUV segment alongside the Tata Curvv. Prices start from Rs 11.49 lakh(ex-showroom) with bookings set to open on December 16.
Tata has revealed that the Sierra will be available in 7 variants (called Smart+, Pure, Pure+, Adventure, Adventure+, Accomplished and Accomplished+) with prices starting from Rs 11.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Tata will be announcing the detailed pricelist of all variants in the first week of December.
The new Sierra arrives as a redesign but continues to carry the spirit of the original. The upright stance, large glass area, and signature Alpine-style rear window interpretation immediately mark it out as Sierra, even though the bodywork and lighting follow Tata’s modern design language.

The front fascia features a full-width LED light bar, a bold blacked-out grille, and squared-off elements that lend it a rugged yet premium appearance. Along the sides, flush door handles, strong shoulder lines, and the distinctive rear quarter glass treatment make it instantly recognisable. Tata also introduces a new range of colour options, including Andaman Adventure (Yellow), Bengal Rouge (Red), Coorg Clouds (Silver), Munnar Mist (Green), Mintal Grey, and Pristine White, which give the Sierra its own visual identity within the segment.

Inside, the Sierra's cabin reflects Tata's push toward more premium interiors. The triple-screen layout with a 10.25-inch digital driver display, 12.3-inch central infotainment unit, and a 12.3-inch passenger-side information screen establish a tech-forward environment. Materials and textures feel more sophisticated than before.

The feature list of Sierra includes a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, powered tailgate, connected car tech, wireless charging, and ventilated front seats. Audio duties are handled by a 12-speaker JBL Black system with Tata's new SonicShaft sound bar; the latter brings an added layer of immersion to the cabin experience.

Overall, the interior does feel airy, premium, and well-equipped for a family SUV in this category.

Tata has launched the Sierra with three internal-combustion engines: a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel. The city-friendly NA petrol develops 108 PS and 145 Nm, while the 1.5-litre T-GDI turbo-petrol makes 160 PS and 255 Nm. On the other hand, the 1.5-litre diesel develops up to 118 PS and 280 Nm.

Tata offers the NA petrol and Diesel engines with a choice of manual and automatic transmission, while the turbo-petrol only gets a 6-speed automatic transmission. Tata is also preparing an all-wheel drive powertrain for a future launch.

While an all-electric Sierra is confirmed for a launch soon, Tata has not yet announced the detailed specifications, battery capacity, or claimed range. An ICE Sierra first allows Tata to competitively position the car in the highly competitive compact SUV space while simultaneously preparing the platform for electrification.

Coming to the safety equipment on offer in the new Sierra, Tata has equipped it with a Level 2 ADAS suite, multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, electronic parking brake with auto-hold, 360-degree camera, hill hold assist and front and rear parking sensors as well.

At these prices, the Sierra goes head-to-head with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Victoris, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, MG Astor, Honda Elevate, and the forthcoming Renault Duster. Tata also has the Curvv, which sits in a similar price range. Tata is obviously positioning the Sierra as a more premium offering in the compact SUV space, considering the distinctive styling, advanced feature list, and future-ready powertrains.

The 2025 Tata Sierra is a premium, feature-loaded, and design-forward compact SUV re-entering the Indian market, carrying forward the legacy of the name without being bound by it. Priced competitively, boasting a sophisticated cabin, and promising an EV soon, the Sierra is injecting fresh energy into its segment while delivering on the nostalgia that made the original such a cult icon.
