The Tata Sierra was one of the most anticipated launches in 2025, and now that it has finally launched, we have a clear picture of the car and its 7 variants on offer. Sierra has created a lot of buzz around it, and buyers seem to be loving it so far. But what about those buyers who want the Sierra badge, space, and everyday usability while keeping costs in check without having to stretch to the premium variants? The base variant has been designed keeping them in mind.
Let’s find out what exactly the base Smart+ Sierra offers to justify its badge:
The Tata Sierra can be had across three engine options, but the base Smart+ variant can be had with only two engine options. These include a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. Sadly, though, the Smart+ variant does not offer an automatic transmission on any engine; only manuals are available.
Here are the detailed specifications:

On the outside, the silhouette of the Smart+ variant of the Sierra remains the same as the higher models. It gets a boxy and upright stance and a design that pays tribute to the original 1991 Sierra. However, it does miss out on certain features like fog lights, sunroof, roof rails, and alloy wheels. Even the ORVMs are not body coloured here. But the roof still gets the black colour treatment and squared rear windows.

The overall dashboard layout of the base Smart+ variant is similar to what is seen on the higher trims. Basic convenience features are a part of the package. However, the Smart+ variant misses out on an infotainment system altogether, gets no speakers and also does not come with premium touch materials or leatherette seats inside the cabin.

The Tata Sierra is decently equipped in terms of features. It does miss out on bells and whistles, but the basic equipment list seems good. Also, Sierra is the first car in the segment to offer an electronic parking brake and an extendable sunvisor right from the base variant.
On the safety front, key highlights on the Smart+ variant include 6 airbags, all-wheel disc brakes, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, and hill hold control. All of these features are standard across all variants.

The base variant of the Tata Sierra may miss out on luxurious and fancy features, but it comes equipped with the basic essential kit. With a decent list of features, plenty of space, and two engine options, the base spec Sierra caters to buyers who want the Sierra badge and a dominating road presence without stretching their budget, making it a well-rounded overall package.
