Tata Motors had brought back the Sierra back in November at a much-hyped price of Rs 11.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Among many other things, the carmaker also equipped the Sierra with some cutting edge safety features and also demonstrated a head-on collision as part of their own internal testing. However, now the SUV has gotten the stamp of approval from none other than Bharat NCAP by scoring a full 5-Stars.
Here is a closer look at how the Sierra performed:
Score: 31.14/32

Let’s begin with the adult occupation scores first. The Sierra has scored 31.14 out of a maximum 32 points, giving the car a clear and impressive 5-stars. The driver dummy has received an adequate protection rating for the chest and knees, while the head and thighs have received a ‘good’ safety rating in the frontal offset deformable barrier test. As for the co-driver dummy, it has received an overall ‘good’ safety rating for all the parts except for the right knee, which has been rated as ‘adequate’.
In the side deformable barrier test, all parts of the dummy received ‘good’ protection. The Sierra passed the side pole impact test as well with a perfect ‘good’ protection for all body parts.
Score: 44.73/49
Coming towards the Child Occupation Protection scores, the 2026 Tata Sierra has secured 44.73 points out of a maximum of 49 points, earning it 5 stars in this category as well. It has also scored a high 23.73 out of 24 in the dynamic tests, along with a full score of 12 out of 12 in CRS installation tests, ensuring that the child seats are fitted firmly and securely for adequate protection.

In terms of the vehicle assessment score, the Sierra has scored 9 out of 13, which, though decent, still leaves slight room for improvement.
Tata cars always offer the best of safety, and the Sierra is no different. It comes equipped with plenty of safety features like Level 2 ADAS, 7 airbags, a 360-degree camera with blind spot monitor, front and rear parking sensors, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, hill hold assist, tyre pressure monitoring system and electronic stability control.

The Sierra retails in the range of Rs 11.49 lakh (ex-showroom) and Rs 21.29 lakh (ex-showroom). It Sierra has a lot of rivals like the Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara and Victoris, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Honda Elevate and its own sibling, the Tata Curvv.

Tata Motors has always been known for delivering the safest cars, no matter what the segment is and with the Sierra, the legacy has been carried on. With the score being validated by Bharat NCAP, the Sierra has proven itself to be a very safe offering in the segment, along with being one of the most feature-loaded options as well.
