If you believed that Kia was through with sprinkling magic on your holiday season, think twice. The brand has just launched two new trims for its first locally manufactured electric vehicle, the Carens Clavis EV, and they're aimed at providing customers with just what they've been demanding: more features, more comfort, and more range. Say Hello to the new HTX E and HTX E [ER], which cost Rs 19.99 lakh and Rs 21.99 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively.
These new trims then fill the space between the current HTK+ and HTX variants, offering something in the middle to cater to those who needed slightly more than mid-spec but weren't willing to go all-in on the top.
The HTX E has a 42 kWh battery, while the HTX E [ER] (Extended Range) receives a 51.4 kWh one. Both have electric motors producing up to 126 kW and 255 Nm of torque, which makes them quick enough for city trips or weekend excursions. The lower battery has a claimed 404 km range, while the larger one has a 490 km range. The 10 percent to 80 percent fast charge just takes 39 minutes, so long drives won't translate to long coffee stops.

Kia's new trims introduce more creature comforts into the equation. You now have a panoramic sunroof, LED lights for all three rows, and an auto-dimming IRVM, little additions that count for much. The cabin also feels more luxurious now, with leatherette upholstery, a seatback folding table, multi-colour mood lighting, and even an air cleaner with virus kill functionality.
Essentially, the Carens Clavis EV is quickly becoming that single family member who's practical and fashionable, the one who shows up to each family gathering bearing gifts and news.

Features like dual 10.25-inch screens, 90 connected-car features, and more, combined with Kia EV ecosystem, which tries to simplify charging infrastructure with access to more than 11,000 charging stations via the K-Charge platform in the MyKia app, with live charger status and route planning.
Safety hasn't been ignored either. Six airbags, ESC, Hill-Start Assist, and 18 innovative features that will make your trips as smooth as your playlists.
Previously, Kia updated the variant line up of the Carens Clavis ICE too, and now with the update in the Clavis EV, which has always been an intriguing proposition, a rare, family-friendly 7-seater electric in the market. With these new trim levels, Kia might just give its initially slow sales a welcome jolt of momentum. The updated lineup strikes a sweet balance of price, range, and features, a combination that’s bound to appeal to both first-time EV buyers and those looking to upgrade.
