With most details still under wraps, the all-electric Carens Clavis is expected to deliver a range of around 400 km

Kia is gearing up for its next big launch, and no, it’s not another SUV, but rather the all-electric version of the recently launched Carens Clavis. As hinted in the brand’s recent press release, “Carens Clavis makes a strong debut, setting the stage for the company’s next innovation in July.” The next big reveal? It will likely be the all-electric Carens Clavis EV, expected to break cover sometime next month.

The Carens Clavis EV will mark Kia’s entry into the electric MPV space and could be its most accessible electric people-mover yet. Interested in one? Let’s break down what to expect.

Design

From the spy shots surfaced so far, the Carens Clavis EV will likely carry forward most of the Clavis’ styling. Like most EVs, it will get a closed-off grille, while retaining sleek LED DRLs and three-pod LED headlights. A centrally mounted charging port is expected to sit just below the Kia badge, as seen on test mules.

The Clavis EV is also expected to feature aero-friendly alloy wheels and possibly new finishes to distinguish it from the ICE-powered model. Other than that, the side profile will likely remain largely unchanged, with similar body cladding and roof rails.

At the rear, the connected LED tail lights with an illuminated light bar are likely to be retained, although Kia could spice things up with a subtly revised rear bumper for a cleaner look.

Interior

While the Clavis EV’s cabin has not been officially revealed, expect it to mirror the one offered with its ICE-powered counterpart. You can however expect some tweaks to the interior colour scheme, while retaining a similar layout. Apart from this, you can also expect a minimalist theme but expect the feature set to be similar. Seating configurations should include both six and seven-seater options.

Features

Amenities such as dual 12.3-inch displays will likely be carried forward. Features like digital key access, powered front seats with boss mode, middle-row seat ventilation for captain seat variants, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, and a wireless phone charger, will likely be part of the package.

On the safety front, it will likely include six airbags, a 360-degree camera, and ADAS features, keeping it on par with current segment standards. Additionally, EV-specific tech like Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging support could also make their way into the package, further enhancing its appeal.

Battery and Performance

While official specs are still under wraps, the Carens Clavis EV is expected to offer multiple battery pack options with a claimed range between 400 to 500 km. Kia has not confirmed motor specs or charging speeds just yet, but expect details to surface closer to the unveiling.

Expected Price and Rivals

The Carens Clavis EV is likely to be priced from around Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it as a family-oriented, electric MPV. It will directly take on the BYD eMax 7, while also serving as an electric alternative to MPVs like the Toyota Innova Hycross and Maruti Invicto.

With an all-electric setup and MPV practicality, the Clavis EV could be the value-packed EV. We will bring you more details as we inch closer to its July debut, so stay tuned!
