Both the 6 and 7-seater versions of the same are priced at Rs 19.27 lakh(ex-showroom). The Carens Clavis gets styling inspired by Kia’s latest design philosophy. This includes tri-LED headlamps and a faux silver skid plate at the front. Towards the side, it gets 17-inch crystal-cut alloy wheels. As for the rear end, it gets clear-lens LED taillamps with a connected strip, along with a faux silver skid plate on the bumper.

Inside, the Carens Clavis gets a plush interior with dual 10.25-inch screens taking the centre stand. The interior comes finished in a dual-tone white-and-black upholstery. With this update, Kia has added optional captain seats in the HTK+, HTK+(O) and the newly introduced HTX(O) variants, which enhance the appeal for chauffeur-driven buyers. If they wish, customers can also opt for the 7-seat layout with bench seats in the second row at no extra cost.

Talking of features, the Carens Clavis is loaded with equipment such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 64-colour ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, wireless charger, ambient lighting, and ventilated front seats.
Talking specifically of the new HTX(O) trim, it borrows an 8-speaker BOSE sound system, drive modes (DCT only), remote engine start (DCT only) and electronic parking brake (DCT only) from the higher HTX+ variant.
Otherwise, in terms of safety, the Carens Clavis is equipped with a Level 2 ADAS suite in addition to 6 airbags, electronic stability control, hill hold assist, 360 degree camera and tyre pressure monitoring system.

Under the hood, the Carens Clavis features three engine options, including a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The naturally-aspirated petrol can be had with a 5-speed manual, the diesel can be had with a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission options, while the turbo-petrol can be had with 6-speed manual, 6-speed iMT or 7-speed DCT automatic gearboxes. Here is a breakdown of the powertrains:

While the Carens Clavis is already an impressive car for the price, these variant refreshes are going to make it even more tempting. Chauffeur-driven customers will now be able to opt for the captain seats in the second row with their favourite variant, while those wanting more features from the top-end but have a restricted budget can now opt for the HTX(O) trim. This, combined with the recent GST reforms, surely does make the Carens Clavis a tempting proposition.

But, we do think that Kia should launch the top-spec variant in diesel, since a good chunk of buyers in this segment would like a fully specced car with a frugal engine plus a comfortable powertrain option.
