MPVs have started to become popular and so have EVs, but an electric MPV is still not very common especially in the mass market segment. After launching the Carens Clavis, Kia is now gearing up for the launch of the Carens Clavis EV which will first be revealed on July 15, 2025. Chances are that Kia could reveal prices on the same day.
Ahead of its debut, here’s everything you need to know about the Carens Clavis EV!
Do note that the images used in the story are of the regular Clavis, and are for reference purposes only.
From the various spy shots that we have seen so far, we can confirm that the Clavis EV’s silhouette and design elements look similar to the regular Carens Clavis. Similar to most EVs, it will sport a closed-off grille giving it a minimalist look up front. Even the sleek LED DRLs and three-pod LED headlights should be carried forward from the standard car. As seen in the test mules, we expect it to get a centrally mounted charging port positioned below the Kia badge.

Over the regular version, it will likely come with aero-friendly covers on the alloy wheels to set itself apart. Other than that, the profile will most likely remain identical to the ICE-powered iteration.

The rear end will likely feature familiar connected LED tail lights, with an illuminated light bar. However, Kia can add a different flavour by providing it with a revised bumper for a fresher look. If you still get confused between the two versions, you may have to rely on the EV badging and green plates to know what’s what!

Moreover, we also expect it to come with some new hues to keep things fresh.
The Clavis EV’s interior has not been spied or revealed yet, but we know that it will likely be similar to its ICE-powered counterpart. However, Kia will likely refresh it with a new colour scheme. It will come with the new steering wheel which we have already seen on the Kia Syros and now on the regular Clavis. Seating configurations will include both six and seven-seater options.

The Clavis is the most well-equipped MPV in its class, and the EV too will leave you satisfied with its amenities. The expected new features will include powered co-driver seats, boss mode and ventilated second row seats. Features that are expected to be carried over from the Clavis ICE include dual 12.3-inch displays for the infotainment and driver display, digital key, panoramic sunroof, multi-colour ambient lighting, powered front seats with boss mode, middle-row seat ventilation for captain seat variants, and a wireless phone charger. Moreover, it will also get EV-specific features like V2V (Vehicle-to-vehicle) and V2L (Vehicle-to-load) technology. Do note that the interior of the Clavis EV will also have a similar dashboard design and layout, but could come in a differ

Safety will likely be taken care of by six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, a tyre pressure monitoring system, a 360-degree camera, and ADAS features.
While powertrain specs are still under wraps, the Carens Clavis EV is likely to offer multiple battery pack options with a claimed range between 400 km to 500 km. The power figures and charging details are also yet to be revealed, but we expect it to get fast DC charging to make life easier during long trips.
The Carens Clavis EV is expected to retail from around Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom), locking horns with the BYD eMax 7. It will also be an electric alternative to MPVs like the Toyota Innova Crysta and Hycross and Maruti Invicto.

In the sub Rs 20 lakh market, the Clavis EV will clearly hope to benefit from the first player advantage, and provide buyers the MPV they need for their large families while offering an all-electric setup. Stay tuned as we will be covering the Clavis EV’s unveiling in detail! Till then let us know your expectations from the electric MPV in the comments section.
