A naked TVS bike based on the Apache RR310 platform has been spied on for the first time

July has brought an exciting surprise in the form of a spy shot, and not just any spy shot, but the very first one of a brand new streetfighter from TVS. The images have surfaced on the internet, and it seems to be the TVS Apache RTR 310, based on the same 310cc platform shared by TVS and BMW Motorrad.

Firstly, no, it is not just a rebadged BMW G 310 R, instead, it gets an all-new styling. The bike looks pretty sharp and aggressive with a muscular fuel tank and tank extensions along with a raised pillion seat, with a single-piece saddle – a true sporty naked. The side panels will remind you of the other naked bikes in the Apache lineup including the TVS Apache RTR 200.

While we haven’t got much of a look at the front of the bike, the headlight slightly resembles the Suzuki GSX 8S. Oh, and it gets a quirky twin LED taillight design and also, the fenders seem to flaunt a faux carbon-fibre finish. An unusual thing on the naked is the Proto exhaust, which is likely to be skipped on the production bike.

Apart from that, from whatever little we can see in the image, we expect the bike to be built on the same steel trellis frame as the Apache RR 310, but the subframe here is covered with plastic panels which makes it look even more premium. Additionally, it gets a USD fork and monoshock suspension setup. Similar to its sibling, we expect the suspension to be adjustable, making the bike quite premium. It also features discs on both ends, with dual-channel ABS expected as standard, and seems to be running on Michelin tyres.

Powering the Apache RTR 310 will be the same 312.7cc reverse inclined single-cylinder motor used on the BMG G 310 R, G 310 RR, G 310 GS and the Apache RR 310. It could also make the figures – 34PS and 27.3Nm, paired with a bunch of ride modes.

Earlier this year, TVS disclosed that it will be launching more bikes in the 225cc to 350cc segment. And the Apache RTR 310 could be the very first to come out of this plan. Expect it to launch sometime later this year and go up against the likes of the KTM 390 Duke, BMW G 310 R and Honda CB300R, likely undercutting them with an estimated price tag of Rs 2.5 lakh ex-showroom.
