Ducati is expanding its off-road racing presence in India, with the Desmo450 MX joining the under the new ‘PBG Ducati Legacy Racing’ team in Season 3 of the Indian Supercross Racing League (ISRL). The Desmo250 MX was also unveiled (abroad) and will join the Desmo450 MX in the upcoming season in India.
The team, led by sports entrepreneur Punit Balan and Pune Ducati dealership owner Pranav Bakre, will compete under the PBG Ducati Legacy Racing banner. The Desmo450 MX was unveiled in India at the ISRL Season 2 finale in Calicut, and will now be joined by the smaller-capacity Desmo250 MX for the upcoming season.

The Ducati Desmo450 MX is powered by a 449.6cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine with desmodromic valve timing. It produces 64.38PS at 9,400rpm and 53.5Nm at 7,500rpm. The bike features a five-speed gearbox, an aluminium frame, fully adjustable Showa suspension and Ducati Traction Control. It weighs 104.8kg without fuel and gets a 970mm seat height.
The Ducati Desmo250 MX, meanwhile, uses a 249.7cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine with desmodromic valve timing. It produces 45.11PS at 12,500rpm and 28.3Nm at 8,800rpm, with the engine capable of revving up to 15,000rpm. Its hardware includes an aluminium frame, fully adjustable Showa suspension, Brembo brakes and Ducati Traction Control. The bike weighs 103kg without fuel and has a 970mm seat height.
ISRL has been one of the biggest forefronts when it comes to off-road motorsports for two-wheelers. With big names like Honda, Kawasaki, KTM already in the roster, it was just a matter of time until we saw Ducati coming into the fold, especially after the 450 MX being the brand’s first ever motocross bike. Afterall, Ducati has a storied history in the world of road racing (read MotoGP and WSBK), so it’s pretty bang on time that Ducati entered the fray of Indian off-road motorsports with ISRL.
