Honda NX 125 patent has been recently filed in India. The scooter is currently available in international markets. This patent hints at the potential launch of the scooter in India,, even though there is no official announcement from the manufacturer.
The Honda NX125 features a sporty and youthful design, with a split-LED headlight mounted on the front apron. The NX125 also gets sharp lines and creases on its body panels which makes the scooter look aggressive. The scooter resembles the India-made Dio 125 but is tailored for foreign markets.

The NX125 is powered by a 125cc single-cylinder engine, delivering 8.7PS at 7,500rpm and 9.7Nm. This engine is paired with a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission). The scooter’s suspension setup includes telescopic forks and a single rear spring, while braking duties are handled by a front disc and a rear drum brake, both mounted on a 12-inch front and 10-inch rear alloy wheels. The NX125 has a kerb weight of 106kg which is on the lighter side of the segment, for reference, the Activa 125 weighs 110kg and the TVS Ntorq weighs 111kg. Also, it has a 6-litre fuel tank. The NX125 also gets ground clearance of 110mm. Honda claims the NX125 will reach a top-speed of 88kmph.

Features include a fully digital LCD instrument console, two small storage compartments in the front and a USB charging port. The NX125 gets LED headlight, tail light and indicators. It is also available in 6 colours in the international market.
Despite the patent filing, the NX125’s launch in India appears unlikely for now. Honda already has two strong contenders in the 125cc segment – the Dio 125, which appeals to younger buyers, and the Activa 125, a popular choice for a broader audience, looking for a family-oriented scooter. .

Honda’s decision to patent the NX125 design could be a strategic move to reserve the model for future use, or perhaps as a response to the competition. The TVS Ntorq 125, with its higher power output and additional features, is a strong rival. Honda may consider bringing in the NX125 to India if the market demands a more powerful option. However, for now, the patent filing may be more about safeguarding the design than signalling an imminent launch.
