The Multistrada name has been quite popular amongst ADV enthusiasts for over a decade now. Over the years, we’ve seen Ducati introduce all kinds of Multistradas, from proper off-road-centric Enduro models to race-ready Pikes Peak models. And the latest to join this lineup is the Multistrada V2, unveiled at Ducati’s annual world premiere.

The Multistrada V2 is essentially a rebadged Multistrada 950, bringing it in line with Ducati’s new nomenclature, which adopts the engine-type instead of the capacity.

The new name does come with a few changes, though. The most significant of them is to the engine. While it still uses the same 937cc L-twin motor as the Multistrada 950, Ducati claims the engine is now lighter and gets an updated gearbox and clutch. It puts out 114PS and 94Nm, 2Nm less than before. However, peak torque now kicks in 1,000rpm earlier.

The new Multistrada V2 weighs 5kg less than the 950, thanks to lighter cast alloys and engine components. This gives it a better power-to-weight ratio.

Ducati has revised the ergonomics too. You get a reshaped, narrower 830mm seat, 10mm lower than the 950. Complementing this are the new footpegs from the Multistrada V4, which are also 10mm lower.

Features on the Multistrada V2 include 6-axis IMU-governed electronics, hill hold control, and a digital LCD instrument cluster. And if you want to take things up a notch, there’s an ‘S’ version with a TFT instrument cluster, cornering headlamps, backlit handlebar switches, cruise control, and a two-way quickshifter. Ducati has also thrown in its brake light system, which switches on hazard lights under hard braking. Most of these are carried forward from the 950.

Speaking of braking, the Ducati Multistrada V2 is anchored by twin 320mm disc brakes up front and a single 265mm disc at the rear, both with Brembo calipers.

The bike rolls on 19-/17-inch (F/R) wheels, and it’s sprung on a fully adjustable Marzocchi USD and monoshock. The more premium ‘S’ variant gets Ducati’s Skyhook electronic suspension.

Since the Ducati Multistrada 950 is currently on sale in India (and so is the Multistrada V4), we expect the new Multistrada V2 to be launched here as well, probably in the first half of 2022.
