Tata Motors has finally launched the Sierra in the Indian market, with prices starting from Rs. 11.49 lakh (ex-showroom). It was one of the most anticipated launches of 2025, and the hype surrounding the car certainly justifies that. With the full set of pictures now available, let's break down the car in detail, exploring its design, interior, and everything it offers in terms of features.
One of the main highlights of the Tata Sierra is its design, which pays homage to the original 1991 Sierra with its boxy shape, upright stance and minimalist lines. The front is dominated by a broad grille in piano black finishing, which also houses the slim LED headlights with connected DRL and the “SIERRA” branding.

From the side, the first thing you will notice is the blacked-out rear pillar and squared rear window to mimic the original Sierra. This look is further enhanced by large wheel arches, 19-inch alloy wheels, and flush door handles for a modern touch.

Moving to the rear, the squared design approach is completed by a flat tailgate, raised bumper, short rear overhang, and connected taillights.

On the inside, the Sierra’s interior comes with a very minimalistic design, and is dominated by three screens spreading across the dashboard. It includes a display for the digital instrument cluster, touchscreen infotainment system and another screen positioned ahead of the co-passenger.

The design language inside, with the dual-tone colour theme, gloss-black steering wheel, and the floating centre console, is in line with other Tata cars like the Curvv and Harrier. The panel below the AC vents is a soundbar for the 12-speaker JBL Black sound system.

In the rear seat, it is evident from the pictures that the occupants will enjoy a spacious feel thanks to the panoramic sunroof and the “boss mode”. Adding to this list are large windows with dedicated sunshades and rear AC vents.

In terms of features, the Sierra leaves little to be desired. It comes equipped with a triple screen layout consisting of a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch passenger entertainment screen besides a large panoramic sunroof, a powered tailgate, ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, a 12-speaker JBL Black sound system, dual-zone climate control, drive modes and terrain modes.

On the safety front, Sierra is expected to secure a 5-star rating in both Bharat NCAP and Global NCAP tests. Apart from this, a Level-2 ADAS suite, 360-degree camera with front and rear sensors, 6 airbags, electronic parking brake with auto-hold and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) are also a part of the safety package.

The Sierra is offered with three engine options, which includes a new 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, a new 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine, and Tata’s tried and tested 1.5-litre diesel engine, which also powers the Nexon and Curvv. Tata has also confirmed that an AWD version of the Sierra is in the works and a Sierra EV is also in the pipeline. Here are the detailed specifications for this ICE model:

Tata Sierra is now available at an introductory price of Rs. 11.49 lakh (ex-showroom) and is offered in a total of 7 variants.
It takes on cars like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Maruti Suzuki Victoris, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Honda Elevate, and MG Astor. The Sierra also has an in-house rival in the form of the Tata Curvv. Not to forget the German siblings, the Skoda Kushaq and the Volkswagen Taigun, which are known for their performance, will also give heavy competition to the Sierra. Renault's upcoming 2026 Duster is expected to be another major contender against the Sierra.

Tata’s much-awaited Sierra has finally been launched in India, and it shows how much the company has evolved. With competitive pricing, Tata is aiming high to establish itself in the segment, and the Sierra does have strong potential. It comes loaded with features, offers multiple powertrain options and blends its nostalgic design with modern sophistication.
