Mahindra is updating the BE 6 electric SUV, with a new 'Sporteq' variant teased before its official debut on August 15. Three-screen dashboard, different interior colour scheme, fresh exterior paint. Those are the confirmed cabin-focused changes; outright performance isn't the focus here.
Quick read:
Mahindra has confirmed a three-screen dashboard layout, matching what other Born Electric models already use.
Inside, a tan-and-brown interior theme replaces the current grey palette, lifting the cabin feel.
Matte grey joins the exterior colour options, adding to the SUV's futuristic look.
Mechanically, the car is expected to stay unchanged; the full price list arrives on August 15.
Mahindra has confirmed an August 15 reveal date for the BE 6 Sporteq. The variant appears to prioritise a more luxurious, tech-focused cabin over mechanical upgrades. Inside, the updates concentrate on dashboard design, interior materials, and exterior finish.
Inside is where the biggest change lands. Mahindra has redesigned the dashboard around a new three-screen setup spanning the full width of the dash. Out go the dual 12.3-inch screens of the current BE 6. The new layout adds a dedicated front-passenger display, already found on the XEV 9e and other Born Electric models. A revised centre console comes with it.

Inside, the colour scheme changes completely. The Sporteq variant gets tan upholstery and brown seats, dropping the black and grey cabin of the existing model. Warmer tones throughout. Outside, the BE 6 Sporteq comes with a new matte grey paint option that suits the car's sharp, coupe-like design. The body itself is largely unchanged for this update.
Mahindra hasn't detailed the full equipment list for the Sporteq, but the existing BE 6 gives a useful baseline.

That car has a panoramic glass roof, dual-zone climate control, ventilated front seats, and a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system. Wireless phone charging, a powered tailgate, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are also on board. Connected-car technology rounds out the package. Most of this is expected to carry over.

Six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and a 360-degree camera are standard on the BE 6. It also carries a Level 2 ADAS suite. Bharat NCAP has already awarded the electric SUV a five-star safety rating.
Despite the "Sporteq" suffix, mechanical changes appear absent from this update. Cabin and cosmetic enhancements are the focus. Two rear-wheel-drive powertrain options come with the current Mahindra BE 6; the entry option pairs a 59kWh battery with a motor producing 231PS and 380Nm.
A larger 79kWh battery pack is also offered, paired with a motor producing 286PS and 380Nm. On the MIDC cycle, the 59kWh version claims 548km and the 79kWh model claims 683km. Both battery sizes already deliver strong performance. With that covered, Mahindra has shifted focus to the ownership experience.
The current Mahindra BE 6 is priced from ₹18.90 lakh to ₹26.90 lakh (ex-showroom). Depending on its feature set, the BE 6 Sporteq is expected to sit towards the top of that range or just above it. Full variant and pricing details are due at the August 15 event.
In the electric SUV space, the Mahindra BE 6 sits alongside the Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, Hyundai Creta Electric, the Tata Sierra EV and the VinFast VF7.
Mahindra has not refreshed the BE 6 Sporteq to fix a problem. The original design and performance were already strong. Adding the three-screen layout and a more premium cabin theme closes the technology gap between the BE 6 and Mahindra's other Born Electric concepts; the interior now matches the exterior's futuristic look.

Pricing will decide how well this update lands. Mahindra has not confirmed figures yet, but if the BE 6 Sporteq arrives without a significant price jump, it gains a strong case among buyers who want more in-cabin technology and a premium feel in an electric SUV.
