Mahindra BE 6 Sporteq & Formula E Edition

The Mahindra BE 6 was launched in India back in 2024 and was a radical approach towards a modern-day SUV. Especially so thanks to the slew of new SUVs looking relatively similar to each other. Come 2026, the BE 6 gets a refresh in features and variants in the form of the Sporteq Edition.

Mahindra has launched the Sporteq Edition of the BE 6 at Rs 19.45 lakh onwards. The new edition brings it up to speed with the features of their bigger SUVs. The prime of which being the triple-screen setup. Let’s explore what else we get in the Sporteq Edition.

BE6 SPORTEQ And Formula E Editions: Price & Variants

The Mahindra BE 6 Sporteq Launch Edition arrives as a single, fully-loaded variant. This places it at the very top of the BE 6 lineup, building on the feature list of the standard top-spec model. The price reflects this exclusive cosmetic package.

BE6 SPORTEQ And Formula E Editions: Exterior

If you’re looking at a BE 6, you are sure to remember what you saw. You would either describe it as looking like a spaceship or something futuristic. The fundamental design of the BE 6 Sporteq is unchanged, retaining the futuristic and aggressive coupe-SUV silhouette of the standard model. The sharp aerodynamic creases and signature C-shaped LED daytime running lamps (DRLs) are carried over.

The main body colour is paired with a gloss black roof, gloss black ORVMs, and other gloss black accents across the body, including the front bumper and lower cladding. It’s a subtle but effective treatment that makes the SUV look more planted and premium. Other exclusive exterior elements include 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and a shark fin antenna. However, the Formula E editions get 20-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.

The rear is also familiar, with the connected LED tail lamps, which also house a pixelated display for you to show messages to the person behind you.

Meanwhile, the Formula E Edition does carry minor design elements differentiating itself from the rest. Out goes the rally-inspired styling we knew from the previous Formula E edition, and in comes the “normal” styling of the BE 6. The only way to distinguish the Formula E edition is with the badges on the C-pillar and on the boot. However, the top-end Formula E Freedon Edition comes with the Tri-colour stripes on the front bumper, the C-pillars and on the rear bumper. Also note that there is one exclusive colour option available on the BE 6 called Rosso Impulso.

Mahindra BE 6 Formula E Freedom Edition

The BE 6 Sporteq comes with 6 colour options: Ruby Velvet, Firestorm Orange, Stealth Black, Tango Red, Deep Forest, Desert Myst, and Everest White. The Launch Edition exclusively gets the Graphite Storm colour.

The Formula E Freedom Edition comes in 4 colour options: Rosso Impulso, Everest White, Firestorm Orange and Stealth Black.

BE6 SPORTEQ And Formula E Editions: Interior

Stepping inside the BE6’s interior, it won’t disappoint you. It carries on the experience of what you see outside. The radically designed cockpit with flat panels yet with an edgy theme makes this an interior like no other in the segment. The squircle steering wheel and the aeroplane thrust lever-like gear selector certainly add to the sense of occasion for the driver.

Higher variants of the Sporteq edition get the new floating triple-screen layout on the dashboard borrowed from the larger XEV 9S and the 9e. This sits neatly on the dashboard, drawing all the attention. The Launch Edition gets a new tan and black leatherette interior colour scheme. This is a departure from the black and grey interior theme on the regular BE 6.

However, coming to the Formula E edition, this is more for those looking for a serious sporty vibe from the BE 6. The black with orange interior is finished with black Alcantara, which accentuates the purposeful sporty vibe of the car. The overall black interior has contrast orange stitching, Formula E branding, door straps and orange panels on the lower half of the door cards.

The overall interior of the BE 6 is a sense of occasion and unlike any other car priced till 30 lakhs. It doesn’t score much in interior space and practicality, but scores top points in the cool factor, also thanks to the massive glass roof with the coloured strip lights.

BE6 SPORTEQ And Formula E Editions: Features

The BE 6 Sporteq and Formula E editions come packed with creature comforts in usual Mahindra fashion. They include: a triple-screen setup, all of them being 12.3-inch displays for the passenger, infotainment which comes with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and the third for the driver’s information display. This is paired with a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.

Furthermore, the BE 6 includes cruise control, connected car technology, dual-zone climate control, USB-C fast charging, a 6-way powered driver’s seat, ventilated front seats, wireless charger, and powered tailgate.

BE6 SPORTEQ And Formula E Editions: Safety

The BE 6 carries forward the same robust safety package. It’s equipped with a comprehensive suite of active and passive safety features, starting with seven airbags, ABS with EBD, and electronic Stability control (ESC) as standard. A major highlight is the Level 2+ Advanced Driver Assistance systems (ADAS) suite, which uses cameras and radar for features like adaptive cruise control and autonomous emergency braking.

The BE6, in typical Mahindra fashion, also comes with a gamut of safety features like seven airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), Level-2 ADAS, 360–degree camera, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and ISOFIX child seat mounts.

BE6 SPORTEQ And Formula E Editions: Drivetrain Options

Mahindra has made no mechanical changes to the BE6 Sporteq. The powertrain is identical to the standard version. Apart from the 59 kWh and the 79 kWh battery packs, there is a new 70 kWh battery pack option. All three drivetrain options are available only in rear-wheel-drive drivetrain configurations.

BE6 SPORTEQ And Formula E Editions: Rivals

In the growing premium EV space, the Mahindra BE 6 Sporteq faces several rivals. Its primary competition will come from the upcoming Hyundai Creta Electric. It will also compete against established players in the segment like the MG ZS EV, the Tata Sierra EV, Maruti Suzuki eVitara, Toyota Ebella, VinFast VF6 and the VinFast VF7. Given its coupe-SUV styling, it could also be viewed as a more stylish alternative to the higher variants of the forthcoming Tata Curvv EV.

ZigSays...

The new variants bring a welcome refresh to the BE 6’s lineup. The fact that this gets the triple-screen setup and the tan interior gives it another persona for those who want the interior to feel more luxurious than sporty.

Mahindra BE 6 Sporteq & Formula E Edition

This gives the BE 6’s model lineup more versatility, from a luxurious vibe inside to a more focused sporty persona. The Formula E edition this year loses the iconic rally-inspired styling. However, it still makes sure you have the sense of occasion of the sportiness inside.
