Quick Read:
Gets 2 1.5kWh removable batteries
Makes 48Nm and has a claimed top speed of 95.5kmph
Yamaha has launched the Aerox-E in India at a price tag of Rs 2,81,600 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru). While it carries forward the familiar sporty styling of the Aerox 155, the Aerox-E swaps the petrol engine for an all-electric powertrain. The specs of the electric scooter were revealed a while back and here’s all you need to know about it:

The Yamaha Aerox-E retains the aggressive maxi-scooter silhouette of its ICE sibling, complete with sharp bodywork, muscular panels and a central tunnel. It sports a clean white colour scheme, giving it a more futuristic appearance while preserving the sporty stance that the Aerox range is known for.

Powering the Aerox-E is a 9.4kW electric motor that produces 48Nm, delivering significantly more torque than its petrol counterpart. The scooter is equipped with two 1.5kWh removable battery packs, with Yamaha claiming a 106km riding range on a full charge and a top speed of 95.5kmph. Yamaha also offers a 3-year or 30,000km warranty on the battery packs.
The Aerox-E also offers multiple riding modes, including Eco, Standard, Power, along with a Boost mode that provides a temporary burst of stronger acceleration when required.

One of the Aerox-E's biggest highlights is its equipment list. It gets all the features you would expect from an electric scooter in 2026, such as a TFT instrument console with turn-by-turn navigation, connected features and support for multiple riding modes. The addition of Boost mode further enhances its sporty character. Safety features include single-channel ABS and traction control.

Like the petrol-powered Aerox, the Aerox-E continues to focus more on sporty riding than outright practicality. The removable dual-battery setup occupies some of the available space, meaning underseat storage is likely to be more limited. However, the scooter is designed primarily as a performance-oriented maxi-scooter rather than a utility-focused family scooter.
The Yamaha Aerox-E certainly brings plenty to the table with its distinctive maxi-scooter styling, removable battery setup and feature list. It will be available at Yamaha Blue Square showrooms in select cities. However, at Rs 2,81,600 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru), it is a very expensive proposition considering its electric sibling, the EC-06 costs over a lakh less at Rs 1,71,200 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru) and offers more range and practicality.
While the performance, claimed range and technology are decent, the high asking price is likely to become its biggest hurdle and will significantly affect the scooter's success in the Indian market.
