TVS has just launched the Ntorq 150 at Rs 1,19,000 for the base variant and Rs 1,29,000 for the TFT version (both prices ex-showroom) - and it’s everything the scooter-hooligan in you has been craving. It’s more powerful than the 125, and crammed with tech that scooters in this segment have no business flaunting. If the Ntorq 125 was the “sporty scooter for the youth”, this one is the unapologetic hot-blooded flagship.

Looks Like Nothing Else On The Road

Design-wise, the TVS Ntorq 150 screams aggression with the dual-tone coloured bodywork, pseudo-winglets, sporty decals, and matching colour alloy wheels. Up front, the quad-projector LED headlights with fang-like DRLs look quite unique for a scooter. The rear has a split tail-lamp with integrated turn signals, which look just as sharp. The scooter's offered in 3 colours depending on variant: Sealth Silver, Racing Red, Turbo Blue while the top model replaces the Silver with Nitro Green.

Quicker, Better, Faster

The 149.7cc, single-cylinder, 3-valve, air-cooled engine is a bored out version of the existing TVS Ntorq 125’s motor. It churns out 13.2PS at 7,000rpm, 14.2Nm at 5,500rpm, rockets from 0-60kmph in 6.3 seconds, and tops out at 104kmph (both figures claimed). Pretty wild numbers for a scooter that weighs 115kg kerb, and it’s about 2 seconds quicker than the 125. Oh, and it’s also got an ISG (Integrated Starter Generator) called 'iGO Assist' by TVS that allows for one-press silky-smooth starts, and acts like a mild-hybrid system by giving an electrical power boost in addition to the engine.

You Get A TFT, You Get A TFT, Everybody Gets A TFT!

You thought scooters couldn’t get geeky? Think again. The Ntorq 150 debuts a Hybrid TFT console on the base variant with turn-by-turn navigation via the TVS SmartXonnect app, phone alerts, music controls, 2 ride modes (Street & Race), switchable traction control, all-LED lights, projector LED headlamp, and a USB charging port.

You thought it ended there? Wrong. The top variant builds on further by adding a TFT console, OTA (over-the-air) updates, Amazon Alexa, smartwatch connectivity, ride analytics, social media notifications, live sports and weather updates, crash alerts, SOS assistance, real-time vehicle tracking, incognito mode, caller ID display, customizable widgets, adaptive brightness, telematics with 2G/4G/e-SIM support, and in-depth ride statistics through the TVS mobile app.

Competition

It rivals scooters like the Yamaha Aerox 155, Hero Xoom 160, and the Aprilia SR 175 - and the Ntorq 150 undercuts all of them, while breathing in a fresh air of aggressive styling combined with utility and features. But both the Yamaha and Hero have more powerful and liquid-cooled engines, they also cost more.

ZigSays

TVS has pulled all the stops for the Ntorq 150. TVS has always been known to make sporty and feature-rich two-wheelers, and it has done the same with the new Ntorq. The sporty scooter segment has moved on to the 150-160cc class and it’s the gap that is now plugged in TVS’ lineup.
