The TVS Ntorq 150 will be launched tomorrow, September 4, 2025, and it will be the most powerful TVS scooter once launched. But it is not all so simple for the Ntorq, as the performance scooter segment has been heating up lately with more manufacturers entering the space. Here we are giving a breakdown of the top 5 scooters the upcoming Ntorq 150 will have to compete against. 

Yamaha Aerox 155 

The Yamaha Aerox 155 can best be described as the R15 of scooters, as they both share the same engine. The Aerox 155 is powered by a 155cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine which produces 15PS at 8,000rpm and 13.9Nm at 6,500rpm. The Aerox 155 is currently one of the most popular maxi-style scooters in the country, but in terms of features it is rather basic.

The scooter gets a negatively lit LCD console which offers smartphone connectivity. The console offers call, SMS and email alerts but misses out on turn-by-turn navigation. If the Ntorq gets a TFT console, then it will one-up the Aerox in that aspect. The Aerox comes at a price of Rs 1,50,580 (ex-showroom, Delhi)

Hero Xoom 160

The Hero Xoom 160 is a maxi-style scooter, and at first glance, it looks like it would feel at home on the streets of Europe. The scooter is powered by a 156cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine which produces 14.8PS and 14Nm.

It rolls on 14-inch alloys at both ends, with a braking setup that consists of a disc at the front and a drum at the rear. The scooter has a few interesting features on offer, of which the  keyless ignition is the highlight. That said, it only gets an LCD console, which we think looks rather basic and dated. The Xoom 160 is priced at Rs 1,48,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Aprilia SR 175

The Aprilia SR 160 was a scooter that many riders loved because of the good performance it offered. Now, with the recent launch of the Aprilia SR 175, the brand decided to take things up a notch. The new scooter gets a bored-out version of the SR 160’s engine. The new engine is a 174.7cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder motor, which outputs 13.2PS and 14.14Nm.

The scooter has also received some changes to the features, and it gets a 5-inch TFT console with smartphone connectivity for features such as call/SMS alerts and turn-by-turn navigation. The Aprilia SR 175 is priced at Rs 1,33,000 (ex-showroom).

Ather 450X

So far, we have discussed conventional petrol-powered scooter rivals. However, the market has now expanded into EVs, and there are some really good ones which can give petrol-powered scooters a tough competition. The Ather 450X is one of them, and it offers a really good combination of performance and features.

The scooter is powered by a 6.4kW motor, offering a claimed top speed of 90kmph. The scooter is offered in two variants - with either a 2.9kWh or a 3.7kWh battery pack. These give it a claimed range of 126km and 161km, respectively. The Ather 450X is priced from Rs 1,47,999 to Rs 1,57,999  (ex-showroom, Bengaluru).

The e-scooter has a 7-inch TFT console with a lot of connected features, including full-fledged navigation using Google Maps. The e-scooter also gets safety features such as tow and theft alerts as well. T.

Ola S1 Pro 

The Ola S1 Pro is another performance-oriented electric scooter that you can consider. It comes with an 11kW motor, offering a top speed of 125kmph. It is offered in two variants: 4kWh battery pack and a 3kWh battery pack. Their claimed ranges are 176km and 242km, respectively.

The scooter also has a ton of features on offer, including a traction control system along with smartphone connectivity for navigation, call/SMS alerts and even safety features like SOS alerts. The S1 Pro is priced from Rs 1,20,999 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru).
