Bollywood’s Big B Seen Behind The Wheel Of Black Mahindra Thar

The fandom of Mahindra Thar in India is immense, with even famous celebrities joining its ranks. Recently, Bollywood's  megastar Amitabh Bachchan was spotted driving a black Mahindra Thar on his way back home.

A video of the popular actor behind the wheel of a black Mahindra Thar has surfaced on the internet. The Thar he was driving was a hardtop version of the off-road SUV with 4-wheel drive (4WD). 

Although the specific variant of the Mahindra Thar is unknown, the 4WD logo indicates that Amitabh Bachchan's Thar was powered by either a 2-litre turbo petrol engine or a 2.2-litre diesel engine. This conclusion is based on the fact that the smaller 1.5-liter diesel engine choice is only available in rear-wheel drive (RWD) models, which gets a RWD logo.

Amenities On Offer

Being a hardcore offroader, the Thar is not deprived of features and is equipped with all the essentials necessary for today's lifestyle. It comes with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control, manual AC, power windows and steering-mounted controls.

What Powers It?

The Mahindra Thar is available with three engine options: a 2-litre turbo petrol engine producing 152PS and 320Nm, a 2.2-litre diesel engine delivering 132PS and 300Nm, and a smaller 1.5-litre diesel engine with an output of 118PS and 300Nm. The larger diesel engine is exclusively offered in 4WD models of the Thar, while the turbo petrol engine can also be chosen with a rear-wheel drive configuration. However, the smaller diesel unit is only available in rear-wheel drive.

Talking about the transmission options both turbo petrol and bigger diesel engines get the option of both 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission, on the other hand, the smaller diesel unit can only be had with a 6-speed manual transmission.

5-Door Thar Coming In 2024
