Ever since its launch, the Mahindra Thar Roxx has impressed Indian enthusiasts in more ways than one. The 5-door lifestyle off-roader, also the Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) 2024, brings impressive performance and modern features. But what left some customers a little upset, as evident through several online videos shared, was its Ivory White interior, which is highly prone to dust and stains.
To address this, Mahindra introduced a darker Mocha Brown interior, available exclusively with the 4X4 variants, which are certainly more likely to be taken off the roads. Deliveries of these units have begun, and we’ve managed to get our hands on one for a detailed real-world look.
You step inside the Thar Roxx with the Mocha Brown theme, you’ll be greeted with brown leatherette upholstery with black inserts for some contrast. It still gets a beige-themed roof, hence, it is not completely dark.

The dashboard and door panels carry majorly black paint with the Mocha Brown adding a dual-tone. Apart from the colour, the layout of the interior, including the dashboard, remains the same.

The front and rear armrests are also finished in brown, while the seatbacks are kept black.

It comes equipped with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a panoramic sunroof, a wireless phone charger, ventilated front seats and cruise control.

For safety, it offers 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control (ESC), and Level 2 ADAS features.
The four-wheel drive variant of the Mahindra Thar Roxx is offered only with a 2.2-litre diesel engine option paired with either a manual or a torque converter automatic transmission.

The 5-door Thar Roxx is also offered with a rear-wheel drive option which, besides the diesel engine, is also offered with a 2-litre turbo petrol engine that churns out 162 PS and 330 Nm with the manual gearbox and 177 PS and 380 Nm with automatic transmission.

The Mahindra Thar Roxx gets the Mocha Brown interior with the 4WD variants only, which is available from MX5 onwards. Prices range from Rs 19.09 lakh to Rs 23.09 lakh (ex-showroom). The regular price for all variants of the Thar Roxx ranges between Rs 12.99 lakh and Rs 23.09 lakh (ex-showroom).

It competes against the Force Gurkha 5-door and is a larger alternative to the Maruti Jimny.

Sure the Mocha Brown serves the purpose it is intended for, but I’d have preferred a brown roof too in place of the beige roof it is paired with. The Ivory White to some might feel more plush and create a sense of more space but if you’re a hardcore offroader, this might not be as essential for you and in that case, the Mocha Brown just fits perfectly to your needs.
So, in which cabin theme would you love to have your Mahindra Thar Roxx? Let us know in the comments.
