It’s no secret that Aprilia is giving the SR 160 a midlife refresh. It was Diego Graffi, CEO, Piaggio India, who first told us about this update in an interview, and then, the scooter was spotted testing wrapped in camo. Now, the new SR160 has been snapped at a dealer yard in a production-ready guise. 

Unlike the previous spy shots, these photos show us the SR 160’s new fascia. Gone is the aging halogen headlight, and in comes a new all-LED unit. The plastics up front are new too, lending the SR160 a more aggressive front profile. Expect Aprilia to also introduce new colour options with this update.

Then we have a new seat, with the old single-piece unit making way for seemingly wider split seats. And the pillion now gets a bigger and sportier grab rail to hold on to. 

Topping all this off is a new Bluetooth-equipped LCD instrument cluster (same as the SXR 160), a significant step up from the earlier analogue unit.

Apart from this, things will remain more or less the same. The 2021 Aprilia SR 160 will continue with its BS6-compliant 160.03cc motor putting out 11PS and 11.6Nm. No changes are expected to the underpinnings too.

The SR 160 is currently priced at Rs 1.08 lakh going up to Rs 1.15 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). With this update, we expect the prices to go past the Rs 1.20 lakh mark, bringing it right in the crosshairs of the impressive, new Yamaha Aerox 155.
