We have got our hands on the images of the upcoming Aprilia scooter, SR 175, and boy, does it look ever so sleek. It makes more power, gets more features and also comes with new colour schemes. Let’s have a detailed look at what changes the scooter gets with the help of images:
Let’s get straight to the point, from the name itself, we can infer that the upcoming Aprilia scooter will get a 175cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine, probably a re-bored version of the current 160cc heart. Since the displacement is up only by about 15cc, expect only a small power and torque bump (read around 1-2PS and 1-2Nm over the 11PS, 11.6Nm 160cc engine). If our speculation is true, then it will still be behind the Yamaha Aerox 155 in terms of output figures. It isn’t surprising considering the Aerox gets a much more advanced liquid-cooled engine.

The Aprilia SR 175 now finally comes with a TFT console, seemingly inspired by the Aprilia RS 457. The information presented on the console could be laid out in a different way. As with any modern scooter worth its salt, it should support smartphone connectivity as well. It could come with features such as call & SMS alerts, turn-by-turn navigation and music control. The switchgear too, seems to be updated, and will most likely be used to navigate through the functions in the updated console.
The scooter also gets new colour schemes, clearly taking a leaf out of the Aprilia RS 457’s book. This in our opinion, looks quite good.

Apart from these changes, the overall design language of the Aprilia SR 175 and the cycle parts look the same. It continues with the sweet-looking single-sided swingarm, reminding us of a certain Ducati, and 14-inch alloy wheels at both ends.

The Aprilia SR 175 gets decent updates over its predecessor, the SR 160. With more features, new colour schemes and most importantly, increased power output, the Aprilia SR 175 is going to be a much more desirable product over the outgoing one. That said, we do hope Aprilia has addressed the biggest shortcoming of the previous iteration - the stiff suspension. As for the price, we expect a small hike of around Rs 5,000 over the outgoing version’s price tag of Rs 1,31,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
