MG has taken its all-electric Windsor EV and given it the ol' Tony Stark treatment, i.e. more technology, more range, and subtle design updates. Meet the MG Windsor Pro, the new top-of-the-line variant that aims to address most of the shortcomings of the base model and add a dash of sophistication that makes it an improved package. With a bigger battery, a more intelligent safety package, and a bit of practicality, the Windsor Pro seems to be an excellent deal.
It is priced at Rs 18.10 lakh if you want to outright purchase the car. However, with the Battery-as-a-service (BaaS) programme, you can buy the car for just Rs 13.10 lakh plus Rs 4.5 per km for the battery usage.
Here's a breakdown of the top 5 improvements that make this electric family vehicle a force to be reckoned with:
The Windsor Pro now comes with a fatter 52.9 kWh battery pack (over the 38.5 kWh one used in the base Windsor). That's a substantial improvement, increasing the MIDC-estimated range to 449 km, an entire 118 km over previous levels. Range anxiety? Haha.
MG is introducing the big-league driver assists to the Pro in the form of Level 2 ADAS. Lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, and more. It's the sort of clever kit that's quickly becoming the new normal….
Remember the old ‘Pro’verb? Well, with the Vehicle-To-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-To-Vehicle (V2V) capabilities, you can help a stranded EV mate of yours to charge their vehicle and even connect your camping kettle, power tools, or even laptop at a roadside chai stall. The possibilities are endless!
The Windsor Pro receives an updated dual-tone ivory interior and the added convenience of a powered tailgate, a welcome innovation to an otherwise feature-rich cabin that features a panoramic glass roof and 135-degree reclining rear seats, a 15.6-inch touchscreen and ventillated front seats in the equation, MG has unquestionably cranked up the comfort dial. This EV feels more upmarket and VFM as a wholesome package.
While the body shell is unaltered, MG has added a styling update in the form of a fresh set of 16-inch alloy wheels and extra colour choices, i.e. Celadon Blue, Aurora Silver, and Glaze Red. These minor aesthetics make the Windsor Pro stand out just a bit more, particularly if you would like your EV to be as posh on the outside as it is in the interior.
With these five crucial upgrades, the MG Windsor Pro becomes more than a 'Pro' by name. It fixes the range anxiety, raises the comfort bar, and adds tech that you'd otherwise get in pricier EVs. The revamped styling lends it more road presence, and touches like ADAS and V2L tech push it squarely into the future.
Whether you are a daily commuter, a weekend wanderer, or someone just looking to switch to electric without compromise, the Windsor Pro offers a compelling mix of brains, brawn, and budget-friendliness. MG is playing it smart, and if this is the direction their EV game is heading, we’re definitely watching!
