MG has taken the covers off the Windsor Pro, a much enhanced iteration of its successful electric crossover. The Windsor Pro is priced from Rs 13.10 lakh (ex-showroom, Battery-as-a-Service), and it's not all just about styling updates, but adds a larger battery, ADAS, V2L capabilities, and additional features to the equation.
As a first-time EV purchaser or an upgrade enthusiast, there is plenty to appreciate here. Let's break down all that is new with the Windsor Pro, image by image:
Windsor Pro may look unassuming at first, but MG has made some subtle yet sensible external upgrades. That new 'ADAS' badge on the boot tells us that it has more tech up its sleeve now, and those 18-inch dual-tone wheels pop more, too. New colours such as Celadon Blue and Glaze Red add that extra visual zip.
Step inside and you’re greeted with a dual-tone ivory interior, a shift from the darker theme of the standard Windsor. The airy cabin pairs well with the minimalist layout, retaining the large 15.6-inch touchscreen and the 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster.
The Windsor Pro gets a bigger 52.4 kWh battery, with an estimated range of 449 km (MIDC). That's a nice upgrade over the base model's 331 km. More battery = less anxiety.
This is the first Windsor to include Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). The picks include lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and autonomous emergency braking. It's smarter and safer for highway work.
Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) features allow the Windsor Pro to charge appliances or even another EV. Camping, tailgating, or emergency top-ups, this EV’s got your back.
A powered tailgate adds to the list of features, allowing you to load up with just the touch of a button. Convenient when your arms are full of groceries, gear, or pets that won't be carried.
With the BaaS model, you can purchase the Windsor Pro without the battery for Rs 13.10 lakh and Rs 4.5/km to use the batteries. Or, take the classic approach and Rs 18.10 lakh (with battery included). Flexibility, recharged.
The Windsor Pro keeps the extensive list of features: ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging, a 9-speaker Infinity audio system, Android Auto & Apple CarPlay (wireless, at last!), and even a panoramic glass roof.
Rear passengers enjoy reclining seatbacks (up to 135°), plenty of legroom due to a flat floor, and greater visibility with large windows. Boot space? A bountiful 604 litres.
In search of an EV that's convenient, feature-rich, and now more versatile than ever to own? The Windsor Pro could just check every box on your list, be it to buy the battery or lease it.
With increased range, more intelligent tech, and adaptive pricing schemes, the MG Windsor Pro is obviously going after a broader chunk of India's rapidly growing EV market. It's better suited for both in-city daily drives and extended road trips, and includes forward-thinking features like ADAS and V2L without sending the price into the stratosphere.
Whether you're fully on board with EVs or simply EV-curious, the Windsor Pro has much to offer.
