The 2025 update has really brought a lot of changes to the scooter, but is it enough to stay relevant?

The Suzuki Access 125 has been one of the most popular family oriented scooters in the country. It is also the highest-selling model in the Japanese manufacturer’s lineup in India. The brand has now updated the scooter with a lot of changes as part of the 2025 update, including a reworked design. We at ZigWheels have been riding the scooter for a while now, and here’s what we think about its real world performance.

Design

The 2025 Suzuki Access 125 features a retro-inspired design, with bits like the rectangular headlight and a boxier profile overall. The scooter also gets a chrome highlight on the headlight nacelle which looks good. From afar, the scooter feels different from the previous generation Access 125.

Suzuki has also done a very good job with the floorboard and inner parts of the apron, the panels have a nice finish.  The colours blend in well with the ones used in the body. We reviewed the Metallic Mat Stellar Blue colour scheme, which has a brown finish on the inside, and we thought it looked amazing. The addition of reflectors on the inside is an interesting bit and one which will help make the scooter a lot more visible from the side when riding at night.

The long single-piece seat also has a nice look and finish. This makes the entire scooter feel a lot more premium. Lastly, it also gets a rear mounted fuel-filler cap. The new cap is much better packaged than the one we have seen on the previous generation scooter.

Overall, the 2025 Access 125 looks incredible and feels a lot more premium when compared to the previous generation model. Add in the superb build quality, and you have a scooter which looks almost perfect.

Ergonomics

The 2025 Access 125 puts the rider in an upright and relaxed riding position, which is quite comfortable. The seat is slightly firm but well cushioned and has enough space for both the rider and pillion to move around.

During my time with the Access 125, I was easily able to handle longer rides in the city and the occasional highway runs without feeling uncomfortable. Another interesting thing about the Access 125 is the spacious floorboard, which gives some extra legroom. This is something I personally liked about the scooter.

Engine, Mileage And Performance

The Suzuki Access 125 is powered by a 124cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine which produces 8.4PS and 10.2Nm. In the real world, the engine offers linear acceleration and the performance is not very intimidating. The relaxed nature of the scooter’s power delivery is something mature riders will appreciate.

The engine is also very refined, with little to no vibrations present. The scooter can easily handle highway speeds of 80kmph with ease and doesn’t feel stressed when pushed beyond. For a 125cc scooter, the performance is quite impressive.

The only issue I’ve noticed is the lack of torque at the top end, which makes overtakes on the highway a bit difficult. So you will have to plan your overtakes a bit earlier while on the highway. This is not a major issue, as this is meant to be a family-oriented scooter that’s primarily meant to be ridden in the city.

The Access 125 in the city manages to offer good performance and easily keeps up with traffic. As said earlier, the scooter offers a very relaxed and linear power delivery, and the scooter doesn’t have that instant torque at the bottom end. Although the performance is adequate for city traffic, we think younger riders would’ve appreciated a bit more bottom-end punch.

But overall, the Access 125’s performance is quite impressive and for a family-oriented scooter, it does its job very well. I personally enjoyed riding the scooter, thanks to the easygoing nature combined with its good highway performance.

Handling And Ride Quality

The Suzuki Access 125’s suspension setup is well-balanced and absorbs most of the bumps and potholes on the road, but sharper ones will be felt. But where the suspension setup truly shines is in keeping the scooter stable when riding at highway speeds of 80kmph. The ride quality is still quite balanced and the Access does a very good job of striking that balance between city riding and highway performance.

Braking performance is one area where the Access 125 could have done better. The front disc brake doesn’t offer the kind of feel you would expect. During my rides, I found myself pressing the lever a bit too hard and locking the front. The rear drum unit felt a lot more responsive and gave a better feel. With the Access 125, I felt it was better to use both the front and rear brakes to bring the scooter to a stop.

Features

The Suzuki Access 125 has a simple LCD instrument console, which has a very clean layout and is easy to read. The console also offers good visibility even under direct sunlight. In terms of features, there’s smartphone connectivity and related bits like phone/SMS alerts and turn-by-turn navigation on offer. I wasn’t able to test out all these features, but overall they’re good to have on the scooter.

Coming to the storage space offered, the Access 125 has two cubby holes in the apron which can store small items. Along with this, the spacious floorboard also leaves ample space for stowing luggage. The underseat storage is decent, and can easily store groceries. But compared to the previous generation Access 125, it is not a major upgrade. But most riders won’t have much trouble with groceries or luggage, as the floorboard offers enough space.

Should You Buy The 2025 Suzuki Access 125?

The 2025 Suzuki Access 125 manages to retain the same characteristics which made the previous generation model so popular. It has also improved considerably in certain areas, like in terms of looks and now feels more like a premium offering. The scooter starts at a price of Rs 81,700 (ex-showroom) for the Drum variant, which is quite reasonable for a 125cc scooter.

The 2025 Suzuki Access 125 is a simple, no-nonsense workhorse that can easily meet all your family needs with ease. It offers good performance, a comfortable riding experience and a decent set of features. If you are someone who is looking for a family-oriented scooter that ticks all the right boxes and has a long history of reliable performance, then the Suzuki Access 125 is the scooter for you.

Now, if you are someone who wants something a bit more premium along with greater storage space then the Suzuki Burgman Street would be an excellent alternative.
