Yamaha has launched its premium commuter offering, the SZ-RR Version 2.0, in the country. This new avatar was initially unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi last month. The bike will now come in a matte green paint scheme that is a popular choice on many of the Japanese manufacturer’s other offerings. The new model has been priced at Rs 67,664 (ex-showroom, Delhi), slightly north of the existing model.
Yamaha Motors India has discontinued several of its offerings in the country including the FZ1, FZ-S (carburetted version), Fazer (carburetted version), Crux, and Ray. However, the SZ-RR Version 2.0 seems to remain unfazed by the chopping and cutting and will lead the charge for the Japanese company in its new appearance.
On the outside, the motorcycle receives a moderate size matte black fuel tank and matching tailpiece, with olive green accents and yellow decals.
The headlamp cowl and the front fender also get tinges of green. The cycle parts come painted in matte black, while the alloy wheels get a yellow rim tape on the internal circumference of the black alloy wheels.
Mechanically, the Yamaha SZ-RR Version 2.0 is powered by the same 149cc air cooled single cylinder engine that has been retuned to produce 12.1PS of power and 12.8 Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a constant 5-speed gearbox and Yamaha’s new Blue Core technology.
In the premium commuter segment, the Yamaha SZ-RR Version 2.0 will compete against the likes of the Bajaj Discover 150 and the Hero Achiever. Apart from the matte green hue, the bike also comes in other colours like Red Dash, Ivory White and Green Arrow.
