  • The bike was earlier supposed to be launched by the end of September.
  • Will be the first Royal Enfield to feature a semi-digital instrument console with smartphone compatibility.
  • It will be powered by an all-new 349cc single-cylinder engine.

The wait for the Royal Enfield’s Meteor 350 just got longer. The bike, which was supposed to be launched by the end of September 2020, is now expected to be launched after Diwali. A senior Royal Enfield executive's interview with ET Auto revealed that the launch of the Meteor has been delayed as the brand is working on introducing the bike with a unique ‘Make Your Own’ app. Expect the Meteor 350 to be priced around Rs 1.75 to Rs 1.85 lakh (ex-showroom).

The app essentially allows customers to customise their Meteor 350 with genuine Royal Enfield accessories and have the bike delivered at their doorstep. The entire development of the app is being overseen by Royal Enfield’s CEO Vinod Dasari.

We already know a ton about the upcoming Meteor 350. It's the first bike from Royal Enfield's stable to sport a semi-digital instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation. More information here.

The Meteor will pack an all-new 349cc single-cylinder engine based on the 'J' platform, which is likely to be counterbalanced for better refinement. It produces 20.48PS and 27Nm -- 1.12PS more and 1Nm less than the current BS6-compliant 346cc engine. Expect to see a 6-speed transmission on the bike for better highway-cruising capability.

Royal Enfield delaying the launch of the Meteor 350 will surely hamper its sales as it will miss out on the festive season period, an auspicious time where customers usually flock to pick up their new wheels. Honda, on the other hand, will begin deliveries for its newly launched H’Ness CB350 by the end of October. The roadster will take the fight to Royal Enfield.
