The bookings for DSK Benelli’s much hyped entry-level faired motorcycle, the 302R have begun officially. The bookings can be made at any of the DSK Benelli showrooms located across the country for Rs 30,000. The DSK Benelli 302R will be launched by mid-July, 2017. Powering the Benelli 302R is a 300cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin motor churning out 38PS of power at 10000rpm and 27.4Nm of torque at 9000rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission which channels power to the rear wheel via a chain drive. Its nearest rival, the Kawasaki Ninja 300 churns out 39PS of power at 11000rpm and 27Nm of torque at 10000rpm from its 296cc parallel-twin powerplant.  Also read: Benelli TNT 302 vs KTM 390 Duke: Comparison Review

Commenting about the booking commencement, Shirish Kulkarni, chairman, DSK Motowheels, said, “It is quite overwhelming to see that DSK Benelli 302R is receiving such a positive customer response even before it has entered the market. This signifies the trust and brand salience that DSK Benelli has been able to develop amongst the Indian motorcycle enthusiasts. What’s more remarkable about 302R is the fact that the fully faired sports bike is a true manifestation of the Tornado pedigree, whose legacy has enchanted the global superbiking community for about half a century now. Since advance bookings for the premium bike have been initiated, we are foreseeing strong disruptions in the Indian mid-range biking segment.”

Coming to cycle parts, the 302R employs inverted forks upfront and a monoshock with adjustable preload at the rear. Braking duties are taken care of by twin 260mm petal discs at the front and a single 240mm petal disc at the rear. The wheels are likely to be wrapped with Metzelers for optimum performance, and ABS is expected be a standard feature. The bike, once launched, will rival the Kawasaki Ninja 300, KTM RC 390 and the upcoming TVS Akula 310.
