Hi Bird, which till recently has been present only in the bicycle market, has now announced their entry into the e-scooter segment with two new products. This is the first time the company has looked at a new market apart from bicycles, however they are bullish on the prospects offered by entering this new market segment.
In line with the goal of going green, Hi Bird is sure that their e-scooters will be met with decent market demand despite e-bikes and scooter remaining a niche segment in India. The scooters themselves boast of an electric motor fitted to the rear wheels and powering the scooters are lithium-ion batteries, which are superior in terms of offering power and range as compared to the regular batteries utilized by other manufactures. According to officials at Hi-Bird, the e-scooters are capable of touching 100km/h and driving for 70 kilometers on a single charge. Charging the batteries takes anywhere between 5-6 hours.
Despite the use of lithium-ion batteries, Hi Bird has managed to keep the price relatively low and the two e-scooters are priced between Rs 27,000 and Rs 28,900.
