The Tata Nexon EV, India’s bestselling electric vehicle, might get a performance boost soon. Our belief stems from a recently surfaced Delhi RTO document, which reveals the all-electric SUV’s updated powertrain details.

According to the document, the electric motor will put out 136PS, 7PS more than the existing model. This puts it in the ballpark of its more premium alternatives like the Hyundai Kona Electric (136PS) and MG ZS EV (143PS). Sure, a 7PS gain doesn’t sound like much, but it could make for a noticeable improvement in real-life conditions.
That said, the electric motor will continue being powered by the 30.2kWh battery pack. So, that could result in a slight drop in range. As of now, the Nexon EV has an ARAI-claimed range of 312km.

Apart from this minor powertrain update, the SUV should remain unchanged in design and features. Currently, the electric SUV comes with a 7-inch infotainment system with connected car tech, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, a semi-digital instrument cluster, a sunroof, and keyless entry with push-button start.
Passenger safety is taken care of by dual airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors with camera.

The Tata Nexon EV is currently priced from Rs 13.99 lakh (ex-showroom). While these homologations offer an insight into what to expect, you should take this with a pinch of salt. That’s because final specifications will likely change.
