This price bracket is full of all kinds of sporty and purposeful options

After over a year of deafening silence, CFMoto sprung a surprise by quietly launching its first BS6-compliant motorcycle: the 300NK BS6. Another equally big surprise was the price tag, which at Rs 2.29 lakh (ex-showroom), is identical to that of its BS4 predecessor. But if you’re still not comfortable enough to roll the dice on this relatively unknown Chinese manufacturer, then here are some similarly-priced alternatives that you can consider:

KTM 250 Duke

KTM 250 Duke

If you are looking for a naked roadster in the 250 to 300cc range, you’ll struggle to do much better than the KTM 250 Duke. It may be the most docile of all the KTMs in India, but don’t for one second make the mistake of thinking that it’s slow. This most friendly offering from the Austrian manufacturer comes in at Rs 2.17 lakh.

BMW G 310 R

For a little more oomph, you can slide up the displacement scale and check out the BMW G 310 R. This bike is vastly improved in its BS6 iteration, as we found out recently. It comes with a premium badge, so you’ll also need to slide up the price scale and shell out Rs 2.50 lakh for this beauty.

If you’d prefer a fully-faired experience instead, then the best balance is offered by the TVS Apache RR 310, which is also vastly improved in its BS6 generation. It’s also quite a feature-packed motorcycle, making it quite easy to justify the Rs 2.50 lakh price tag.

Royal Enfield Himalayan

Built for all roads and built for no roads is the venerable Royal Enfield Himalayan. This makes it the perfect choice if you want your adventures to continue even after the road ends. Refreshed for 2021 with features like a Tripper navigation pod, prices now start from Rs 2.01 lakh onwards.

Bajaj Dominar 400

Bajaj Dominar 40

The most simplistic approach to bang-for-your-buck would be to buy the most powerful bike that your budget can accommodate. And in this case, that bike is the Bajaj Dominar 400. With 40PS on tap and a price tag of Rs 2 lakh, you’re looking at some serious VFM.
