It now adheres to Euro 5 norms and also gets a smashing new livery
  • Ducati has unveiled the 2021 Hypermotard 950.

  • It draws power from the same 937cc L-twin motor which is now Euro 5 compliant.

  • The SP variant has received a cosmetic update for 2021.

  • The Ducati Hypermotard 950 has always been a riot to ride and now, you can do all that in a more environment-friendly way since the Bologna bikemaker has updated it for 2021. Not a lot has changed, though, since Ducati has resorted to the ‘If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ strategy and just tweaked a few bits.

It’s still powered by the same 937cc L-twin motor but it now adheres to the stricter Euro 5 and more importantly, BS6 norms. Its peak output stands at 115PS and 95Nm, 3PS more than what this motor puts out on the 2021 Ducati Monster. Mated to the tweaked motor is a newly updated six-speed transmission.

Ducati has also introduced a new livery for the SP variant of the 950. The livery gets red/grey/white graphics inspired by Ducati’s MotoGP weapon, the Desmosedici GP 21. If this isn’t premium enough for you, the SP already outpaces the standard Hypermotard with full Ohlins suspension, Marchesini wheels, carbon-fibre components, and Ducati’s bi-directional quickshifter.

Meanwhile, the lower variants, the 950 RVE and the standard 950, have been left as is. Common between the three variants is a TFT instrument cluster, extensive electronics, LED illumination, and a USB power socket.

As for the underpinnings, a fully adjustable 45mm Marzochhi USD fork and an adjustable Sachs shock absorber perform suspension duties while radially mounted Brembo M4 calipers help you shed speed.

If you’re drooling over the 2021 Hypermotard, it might be time to break the bank since Ducati could launch it in India soon. The Hypermotard 950 was already part of Ducati’s BS4 fleet, retailing at Rs 12 lakh, and we expect the BS6 model to be priced at about Rs 13 lakh (ex-showroom). That said, you will have to wait a while as Ducati plans to bring some of its bigger players to the market first, one of which is already here.
