Looks like Honda has decided to give the electric family-oriented scooter story a second try. After the QC1 and Activa e: failed to make a significant mark in the market, Honda is hoping to turn the tide with the new QC3 electric scooter. Priced at Rs 1,35,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi), the QC3 is aimed squarely at families and everyday urban riders. Here’s everything you need to know about Honda’s latest electric offering:

Design

The Honda QC3 follows the familiar silhouette of the QC1 but gets a few changes to make it stand out. Its design is clean and practical, with the design focused more on everyday usability than outright sportiness.

The scooter will be available in four colour options: Matt Photon Gray Metallic, Pearl Precious White, Pearl Shallow Blue and Pearl Siren Blue. The overall design should appeal to buyers looking for a practical family scooter.

Battery & Range

Powering the QC3 is a 3.0 kWh battery pack, which gives the Honda scooter a claimed certified IDC (Indian Driving Cycle) range of 145 km. This makes it well suited to regular urban commuting.

Charging from zero to 80 percent takes 2 hours and 40 minutes, while a full charge takes approximately four hours.

Underpinnings

The QC3 gets a conventional electric scooter underpinnings setup, with the battery positioned under the floorboard.

The QC3 gets 32 litres of underseat storage space, which should be enough for carrying everyday essentials and add to its family-friendly appeal.

Features

The scooter also gets a 5-inch TFT console. It comes equipped with Honda RoadSync connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation, bringing smartphone-connected features to the package. A Smart Key is also offered, adding a layer of convenience for everyday use.

With the QC3, Honda appears to be taking a more practical approach to the growing electric scooter segment. Instead of trying to make an electric scooter that feels radically different, the QC3 focuses on the things that matter to family buyers: usable range, storage, connected features and convenient charging.

But at Rs 1.35 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the QC3 enters a competitive segment. Its biggest rivals are the Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube, Ather Rizta and the Vida VX2. After the relatively muted response to Honda's earlier electric offerings, the QC3 will have to get the basics right (it at least does on paper) to turn the tide in Honda's favour.

All said and done, Honda has yet to reveal the detailed specifications of the electric scooter. The QC3 will initially be sold in Delhi, Agra, Cuttack, Surat and Kollam through select authorised Honda RedWing dealerships.
