BMW Motorrad is working on a new adventure motorcycle that could take on the Yamaha Tenere 700 and KTM 790 Adventure in the international market. The upcoming ADV has been spotted testing abroad, giving us a fair idea of what to expect. While BMW has not revealed any details yet, the test images suggest that this could be an entirely new offering in its adventure bike lineup.

The test motorcycle gets an X-shaped headlight design, which is becoming a familiar BMW styling element. The fairing also features cutouts for the BMW badges, making its identity quite obvious. Interestingly, its overall silhouette looks quite similar to the larger BMW F 900 GS, although the front section appears to be new.
The motorcycle gets a tall stance, a slim body and what looks like a proper adventure-ready design. We expect BMW to offer multiple accessories, including a taller windscreen and other touring-focused equipment.

The biggest highlight could be the new parallel-twin engine. BMW is expected to use a new 650 cc-700 cc motor, which could produce around 75 PS and 69 Nm. The fact that the motorcycle was spotted testing alongside the Tenere 700 and KTM 790 Adventure also gives us an idea of its intended positioning. If these figures are accurate, the new ADV should offer enough performance for highway touring while remaining manageable on rough roads and trails.

The test motorcycle features an inverted fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear. It also gets tubeless spoke wheels at both ends, which should make it more practical for adventure touring. Braking duties are handled by dual discs at the front and a single disc at the rear.
We also expect BMW to offer adjustable suspension and a comprehensive electronics package, potentially including multiple riding modes and other rider aids. However, the final specifications are yet to be revealed.
BMW could unveil the new adventure motorcycle at EICMA 2026, with a market launch likely to take place sometime in 2027. If launched in India, it could become an interesting alternative to the middleweight adventure bikes currently available in the segment. BMW seems to be working on a more accessible adventure motorcycle that combines the familiar F 900 GS design with a new, smaller engine platform. If priced right, it could be an interesting addition to the brand’s ADV lineup.
