The TVS Orbiter V1 is a recently-launched electric family scooter that not only offers excellent practicality but also comes with an extensive feature list. With battery-as-a-service (BaaS), it is even more affordable to own. All these factors make it a strong contender as a family scooter. Here’s everything you need to know before you book the TVS Orbiter:

With BaaS, the upfront cost of the scooter reduces considerably, making it easier to buy one. Not only that, TVS has included an extended warranty package as standard with all BaaS plans – 3 years/30,000km for the V1, and 5 years/70,000km on the V2. That said, BaaS plans start at Rs 862 per month. 

TVS Orbiter: Booking Details And Delivery Timeline

Bookings for the TVS Orbiter V1 have already begun. The e-scooter can be booked at an authorised TVS dealership, or on TVS’ website for a refundable amount of Rs 5,001. For scooters booked online, TVS claims the delivery can be expected in two weeks. However, that might be dependent on the stock availability at the chosen dealer.

What It Gets

The TVS Orbiter V1 looks exactly the same as the more expensive V2. While the design is boxy, it’s easy to like. It comes with a 1.8kWh battery pack that offers a claimed IDC (Indian Driving Conditions) range of 86km. The battery can be charged from 0 to 80% in 2 hours and 20 minutes.

In terms of convenience, it offers a 34-litre underseat storage with a flat bottom that can accommodate a lot of everyday stuff like groceries, backpack or a purse, and more.  It also has a spacious floorboard that will allow you to keep your bags while still having enough room to place your legs comfortably. The feature list is also quite impressive, with an LCD console, app-based mobile connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, crash alerts, hill hold, park assist, cruise control, and two ride modes. These features are rarely seen in scooters in this price range. 

TVS Orbiter: Rivals

The TVS Orbiter V1 is a smartly priced scooter and competes with the Bajaj Chetak C2501, but it offers a better feature list. 

It also goes up against the Vida VX2 Go, although the VX2 Go comes at a more attractive price and a higher range.

The TVS Orbiter V1 is a good-quality, affordable scooter that offers decent practicality. It also has a strong feature list. Since TVS has limited its top speed to 65kmph, it won’t be exciting in a conventional sense, but it surely will be easy for most – especially senior family members. Its smaller battery pack results in a lower range, but has a quicker charging time as compared to the V2. This should be suitable for those who ride just within the city. All-in-all, the TVS Orbiter is a family scooter that can be a no-brainer choice if you know what you want.
