TVS had confirmed back in 2020 that a second motorcycle will spawn from its partnership with BMW. Now, three years later, our sources from the company suggest that the TVS Apache RTR 310 could make its first public appearance at the MotoSoul 2023.
Clearly, with the debut of the BMW G 310 RR, there has been a change in the agreement inked by the two companies which restricted them from retailing bikes in the same genre. So, just like the BMW G 310 RR, would this TVS bike be a rebadged version of its Bavarian cousin? We don’t think so.
The BMW G 310 R’s design is inspired by the bigger nakeds from the German bikemaker and we’d like to see the TVS give its version of the motorcycle the Apache DNA. So, sharper tank extensions and a different headlight would help and unlike the G 310 R, TVS won’t skimp on features.
The RTR 310 would borrow its features from the Apache RR 310. So, bits like riding modes and even the five-inch TFT console with the SmartXonnect Bluetooth connectivity module could be carried over from TVS’ flagship Apache.
The TVS Apache RTR 310 would be the most affordable bike from the 310 platform. With the Apache RR 310 demanding Rs 2.65 lakh, we expect the RTR 310 to cost Rs 2.5 lakh (both ex-showroom Delhi), making it as much as Rs 30,000 more affordable than the G 310 R.
The ultimate rival to the RTR 310 is the KTM 390 Duke. However, the closest competitors would be the Honda CB300R and the KTM 250 Duke. While we are excited for the debut of the Apache RTR 310, the wait and expectations for a hardcore ADV from Hosur grows even stronger now.
