It is certainly more than just the RR 310 sans fairing

After months of speculations, teasings and leaks, the TVS Apache RTR 310 has broken cover. It looks nothing like the BMW G 310 R, the naked with which it shares quite a bit of kit. But more importantly, TVS has priced its streetfighter at Rs 2.43 lakh onwards (ex-showroom India), making it Rs 42,010 more affordable than the Beemer (Rs 2.85 lakh).

Here’s what all it is packing:

  • A brand new design ethos for the Apache streetfighter series, kind of Ducati Streetfighter V4-inspired.
  • All LED lighting, including a sharp face with dynamic speed-dependent headlight and sleek tail lights that flash under hard braking.
  • Available in three colours: Fury Yellow, Arsenal Black and Sepang Blue.

  • Underneath the sharp body lies the same 312.2cc single that powers the Apache RR 310 and the G 310 Beemers.
  • Output has been bumped up from the RR, now standing at 35.6PS and 28.7Nm in the top three riding modes.
  • It too gets five riding modes: Supermoto (Rear ABS deactivated), Track, Sport, Urban, and Rain.
  • Even in the lower Urban and Rain modes, the engine, while being dialled down, puts out more than the supersport: 25.8PS and 27.3Nm.
  • Plus, there's cruise control here on the RTR 310, a boon for the highway.
  • It gets a six-axis IMU-aided electronic aids like cornering ABS, lean-sensing traction control, wheelie control and a bi-directional quickshifter!

  • The trellis frame remains the same but it now gets a bolted-on aluminium subframe.
  • As a result, seat height is an accessible 800mm and the kerb weight stands at 169kg.
  • Plus, there's also climate controlled seating, which can heat or cool both rider and pillion seats.
  • The USD fork and preload adjustable monoshock have been carried over from the supersport but are likely to have their own tune to suit street-friendly riding dynamics.
  • As part of the BTO kit, you can also opt for adjustable suspension and a brass-coated chain, much like the RR 310.
  • New 17-inch alloys come wrapped in lovely Michelin Road 5 tyres.

  • Unlike the G 310 R, the RTR 310 will get a new full colour-TFT with TVS’ SmartXonnect smartphone connectivity module in place.
  • You will be able to get ride related data, statistics and alerts as well as use the turn-by-turn navigation feature to guide to your destination.
  • Plus, you can also hook up your helmet communication set as well as your GoPro to control the devices without letting go of the handlebar! How cool is that!

While we appreciate the arrival of the RTR 310, we are eager to know if TVS does have plans for an adventure bike on the very same platform. Nevertheless, we will be riding the RTR 310 in the coming few days. Stay tuned to our various channels for more deets.
